Sharfina Mutia Syarifah, B.Sc., M.EngTech, a lecturer in the Biotechnology Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, socialized the importance of waste management during the distribution of food packages to the surrounding community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the activity held on Thursday (21\/03) yesterday, Mutia explained to the residents about the importance of processing waste to maintain the cleanliness and health of the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her explanation, Mutia underlined how to utilize organic waste to make compost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMen and women can sort waste and utilize it as compost, there are several ways, one of which is called Losida or kitchen waste bin,\u201d said Mutia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The food distribution event organized by UNISA Yogyakarta is not only a form of assistance to local residents, but also includes socialization activities such as those carried out by Biotechnology lecturers. In addition to the food distribution, the event was also equipped with counseling on waste management and free health checks for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNISA’s concern for the surrounding community is in the form of activities that are not only direct assistance, but also aim to provide understanding and education to the surrounding community about how to protect the environment and their health through waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mutia hopes that the socialization carried out in the food distribution event can have a positive impact and encourage public awareness to be active in waste management, so that the surrounding environment can be well maintained and remain healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
