The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta<\/a> showed its concern for the environment by holding a Sport and Art Everyweek<\/em> (SAE) activity entitled \u201cFST Down to Earth\u201d. This activity involved students and educators of UNISA Yogyakarta in a real action to clean up trash in the river around the campus, Saturday (11\/23).
Not only cleaning the river, this activity was also combined with technological innovation. The team from the Information Technology Study Program successfully developed a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids<\/em>) sensor that measures water quality. This sophisticated sensor is then installed in the river to monitor water quality periodically.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis TDS sensor is the work of our Information Technology laboratory. Hopefully, with this sensor we can monitor water quality in real time<\/em> and take further action if there are significant changes,\u201d said Dean of FST UNISA Yogyakarta, Tika Ainnunisa Fitria, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, to complete the environmental conservation efforts, the activity continued with the sowing of tilapia fish seeds. This step aims to balance the river ecosystem and maintain the sustainability of fish resources.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis FST Down to Earth<\/em> activity is an excellent collaboration between the three study programs in FST, namely Architecture, Biotechnology, and Information Technology. Through this activity, we want to show that science is not only theoretically useful, but can also provide real solutions to environmental problems,\u201d added Tika.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SAE FST Down to Earth activity is expected to be a real example for other campuses in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the field of community service. In addition, this activity is also a living laboratory for students to apply the knowledge they have learned directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
