Early childhood (0-6 years) is like a blank canvas, full of colorful spontaneity, explosive curiosity, and unlimited imagination. However, behind that agility and playfulness, there is also vulnerability: easy frustration, short attention span, and natural egocentrism. This is where Early Childhood Education (ECE) comes in, as the crater of the candradimuka that forges Indonesia’s golden generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAUD is not just a place to play. More than that, PAUD is a holistic stimulation stage, stimulating children’s motor, emotional, and intellectual potential. The goal is clear: to prepare them to enter the next level of education with a solid foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the burden of PAUD goes beyond that. The government has high hopes for PAUD in the effort to prevent stunting. Two crucial indicators are the benchmark: covering parents who attend parenting classes and covering children aged 2-6 years who are registered as PAUD students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAUD teachers are at the forefront, required to be able to provide stimulation, detection, and intervention of child growth and development, under the close supervision of puskesmas and health offices. This service is even one of the assessment indicators in PAUD accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, reality says otherwise. Not all PAUD teachers have adequate capacity, especially in monitoring children’s growth and development. The data is astonishing: 94% of teachers do not understand early detection of child development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This condition aroused the concern of Sri Ratnaningsih and Rosmita Nuzuliana, a community service team from the Midwifery Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Health (FIKes) of Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta. They initiated a training program on the detection of children’s growth and development, targeting IGABA Turi PAUD teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe first step was in-depth problem identification, followed by the delivery of Early Detection of Growth and Development material based on the Ministry of Health 2022. The training method was made interactive: discussion, roleplay with case studies, and case presentations,\u201d said Sri Ratnaningsih, Saturday (8\/3\/2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training, which was attended by 34 IGABA PAUD teachers, produced positive results. Teachers’ knowledge and skills in detecting children’s growth and development increased significantly. As a provision, the service team provided growth and development detection books and educational game tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a follow-up, teachers are committed to conducting growth and development detection at least once a year, according to the age of the students’ development. This effort is expected to detect potential growth problems early, so that intervention can be done as early as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThus, PAUD is not only a place to play, but also a stronghold against stunting, ensuring that every Indonesian child grows optimally, becoming a quality golden generation,\u201d added Rosmita Nuzuliana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
