714 FIKes Unisa Yogyakarta Graduates Take Professional Oath, Ready to Serve Humanity
The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (Unisa) Yogyakarta once again held a Health Professional Oath ceremony for graduates of the Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Anesthesia, Medical Laboratory, and Radiography programs at the Convention Hall of the Walidah Dahlan Mosque, Unisa Yogyakarta, Friday (October 3, 2025). The professional oath marks the beginning of the 714 graduates’ service to society.
In her report, the Dean of FIKes Unisa Yogyakarta, Dr. Dewi Rokhanawati, MPH, expressed her pride in the graduates’ achievements. According to her, the professional oath is not merely a marker of the end of their academic journey but the beginning of their service to society, the nation, and the global community. She also reaffirmed Unisa Yogyakarta’s commitment to continue developing master’s and professional degree programs as part of its efforts to produce competent, adaptive, and relevant healthcare professionals who meet the demands of the times.
The Rector of Unisa Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, M.Kep., Sp.Mat., emphasized in her speech that this year’s number of graduates was remarkable. “Today, 714 participants were inaugurated, consisting of 309 from the professional level and 405 from the vocational level. This figure not only reflects the large number of graduates but also the extraordinary enthusiasm of the new generation of healthcare professionals ready to serve the community,” she stated.
Warsiti also highlighted the graduates’ impressive academic achievements. The average Grade Point Average (GPA) was in the range of 3.96–3.98, indicating high academic quality and competitiveness. Furthermore, the achievements in the National Competency Test (UKOMNAS) for this period are worthy of appreciation. The Anesthesia profession achieved the highest score at 98.61%, followed by the Midwifery profession at 97.47%, Nursing at 96.03%, Physical Therapy at 96.47%, Radiology at 94.32%, and Medical Laboratory Technology at 91.04%.
Warsiti reminded everyone that the professional oath is not merely a ceremonial procession, but a moral and spiritual pledge that binds every graduate. “Starting today, you all not only carry a title, but also a great responsibility to devote yourselves to humanity. Integrity, professionalism, and empathy must always be your guiding principles in carrying out your duties,” he said.
She also touched on the increasingly complex global health challenges, ranging from the double burden of disease (the simultaneous increase in communicable and non-communicable diseases) to demographic changes that demand comprehensive health services. In addition, the era of digitalization with the advent of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and health big data presents both challenges and opportunities for health workers. “However, no matter how sophisticated the technology is, the community still needs empathy, good communication, and moral integrity,” he said.
Warsiti concluded her speech with three important messages for the graduates: to maintain integrity and professional ethics, to continue learning and adapting to developments in science, and to build cross-professional collaboration. She linked this to the words of Allah SWT in several verses of the Qur’an which emphasize the importance of keeping promises, seeking knowledge, and helping one another in goodness.
The professional oath ceremony was attended by the leadership of Unisa Yogyakarta, representatives of professional organizations, faculty members, and the graduates’ families. This moment not only marked academic success but also marked the beginning of the journey for young healthcare professionals to serve with dedication to society, the nation, and humanity.
