Students from the Community Service Program (KKN) at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta successfully held a training session on making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) in Dukuh Pager, Logandeng Village, Playen, Gunungkidul. Collaborating with the Women Farmers Group (KWT) RT 03, the activity on Thursday (August 28, 2025) aimed to improve the quality of local agriculture by utilizing animal manure (kohe) as the main ingredient.

The training was led by Dewi from the Agriculture and Livestock Service, who provided detailed technical guidance. The process began with collecting simple and easily obtainable materials, such as manure, compost yeast, and sugarcane water. All materials were mixed in used gallons, then fermented for 2 to 4 weeks to produce POC that was ready for use.

Field Supervisor (DPL) Enny Fitriahadi, S.St., M.Kes, explained the important benefits of POC.

“POC can fertilize plant leaves and improve soil fertility. By improving soil quality, POC helps create a better environment for root growth and beneficial soil microorganisms,” she said.

Another advantage of POC is that it has no expiration date, making it a practical and efficient solution for farmers. This activity is expected to help farmers reduce their dependence on expensive chemical fertilizers that have the potential to damage the environment.

Through this program, UNISA Yogyakarta students not only transfer knowledge but also enhance the skills of KWT members in managing agriculture sustainably. It is hoped that public awareness of the importance of wise natural resource management will continue to grow for the sake of environmental sustainability and improved welfare.
