Unisa Yogyakarta Builds ABA Semesta Kindergarten, a New Milestone and Leap Forward in Education

‘Aisyiyah University (Unisa) Yogyakarta held a ground breaking of Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten (ABA Kindergarten) which was branded TK ABA Semesta, in Ambarketawang, Gamping, Sleman, Tuesday (3/6/2025). TK ABA Semesta is a new milestone and leap in the world of education.

“Today Aisyiyah starts a new milestone, building ABA Semesta Kindergarten, why is it called a new milestone? because we already have more than 20,000 kindergartens and are Indonesia’s pioneer kindergarten,” said Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Haedar Nashir.

Prof. Haedar said that although there are already tens of thousands of ABA kindergartens, there must be other educational institutions that become centers of excellence. This is because we are currently faced with changes in how people need education at the general level, there is high class education, those who need the best education.

Then, the level of competition of various institutions, not only education, but also health, social, economic is now getting higher. “So this ABA Kindergarten is a leap, not only a milestone, but also a leap to build the progress of kindergartens which will eventually have an impact on ABA Kindergartens throughout the country, because ‘Aisyiyah is a movement system,” said Prof. Haedar.

Prof. Haedar also mentioned that education must be considered from an early age. If we want to knit the Golden Indonesia 2045, wanting superior Indonesian humans, both in character and other abilities, then we must pay attention to education from the beginning, from the upstream. “Even though PAUD is not a systemized school, it is formal, but it is still a place for early education. Early education will determine the future of Indonesia,” said Prof. Haedar.

Prof. Haedar also appreciated Unisa Yogyakarta’s step as an ‘Aisyiyah charity that has been accredited as excellent and showed its commitment to education by building ABA Semesta Kindergarten. “’Aisyiyah University does have a mission to bring progress. One of the efforts to improve education comprehensively is by starting this ABA kindergarten,” she said.

New Hope for Early Childhood Education

Chairperson of PP ‘Aisyiyah, Salmah Orbayinah hopes that ABA Semesta Kindergarten will have a global perspective. TK ABA Semesta complements 20,000 ABA kindergartens that have made various achievements and awards.

“It should present many things, not only academics, but diversity, providing a global perspective. Not only local students, we hope that TK ABA will bring students from various cultures, traditions from all over Indonesia, even abroad,” said Salmah.

The ABA kindergarten is expected to be a provision for further education and can adapt to global changes. “We hope that the curriculum is global-minded, comprehensive and emphasizes the skills needed in the future. By not leaving morals, ethics, and a sense of good culture, and morally good,” he said.

Chairperson of Unisa Yogyakarta’s Board of Trustees, Siti Noordjannah, said that her party realized the extraordinary challenge of providing quality education. Aisyiyah itself has been a pioneer in establishing early childhood education in 1919 under the name Froebel Kindergarten and then in August 1924 changed to ABA Kindergarten.

“Until now, ‘Aisyiyah has tens of thousands of early childhood education centers and the like in all corners of Indonesia. Including in Yogyakarta, currently there are thousands of ‘Aisyiyah PAUD. The existence of the ABA Kindergarten must certainly be increasingly cared for and developed by ‘Aisyiyah,” Noordjannah explained.

Noordjannah said that the presence of kindergartens and early childhood education centers is currently increasingly needed and has become a big agenda of the national government. “The need is not only for quantity but of course quality education,” said Noordjannah.

Sleman Regent, Harda Kiswaya also appreciated Unisa Yogyakarta’s steps to build this ABA Semesta Kindergarten. “This strengthens the foundation of civilization through education. As a forum for development, ‘Aisyiyah has advanced the ummah, its contribution is great, incalculable,” said Harda.

Ministry of PPN/Bappenas Appreciates SPPG UNISA Yogyakarta

The Ministry of National Development Planning/ National Development Planning Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Ministry of PPN/ Bappenas) appreciates the running of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta. UNISA Yogyakarta SPPG is considered to be running well in supporting the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

Erwin Dimas, Deputy for Development Control, Evaluation and Risk Management of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, said that one of President Prabowo Subianto’s directives through the Minister was to control and ensure the running of the national MBG project. On this occasion, his party was present to see the process from the beginning, from the kitchen checking nutrition, hygiene, and so on, to visiting elementary schools to see the distribution.

Erwin appreciated the excellent running of the MBG kitchen or SPPG UNISA Yogyakarta. “In particular, the kitchen that we visited is very good, especially since it is managed by a strong foundation, Muhammadiyah, which has a strong A to Z network,” said Erwin, Tuesday (5/27/2025).

According to Erwin, UNISA Yogyakarta has prepared the kitchen well since the beginning. He hopes that the MBG program will not only run for one point of nutritious food. It should also be seen as an ecosystem that is built.

“How do you see the distribution of food supplies that encourage the growth and welfare of others outside of students. Then how can we apply that education to students, how to be disciplined in line, maintain cleanliness, respect those who cook,” said Erwin.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Nutrition Coordinating Board, M. Nurul Yamin said Muhammadiyah as a partner has prepared as best as possible to support the MBG program, from infrastructure, human resources, to quality control.

“Alhamdulillah, it went well and the program in Muhammadiyah kitchens including UNISA Yogyakarta has been running for five weeks. We hope that the SOP that has been determined by the national coordinator of the Muhammadiyah Nutritious Meal is implemented, because that is what will oversee the nutritious meal process,” Yamin explained.

In line with Erwin, Yamin said there are many benefits in this MBG program. At least Muhammadiyah sees four benefits that can be taken. First, ensuring that the benefits are received by students or beneficiaries. “Of course, this includes the children of Muhammadiyah students,” he said.

Second, the value of economic ecosystem benefits, especially because it involves upstream such as farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs. Third, is the value of benefits related to labor. “This program involves a lot of labor, if from upstream, one kitchen can involve 100s of workers. Fourthly, for us, this activity synergizes the assemblies, institutions and business charities,” said Yamin.

Head of SPPG UNISA Yogyakarta, Avira Durrotul Rasyida added that currently SPPG UNISA Yogyakarta has targeted 12 schools from kindergarten to high school, both schools under Muhammadiyah and public schools. “The maximum number of beneficiaries is 1,900 per day, depending on each school’s schedule. Sometimes 1,200, 1,500, because some have outside activities, holidays,” said Avira.

Avira said that the target of UNISA Yogyakarta SPPG will be able to serve 3,500 beneficiaries later. This target is expected to run in July or August. “There must be technical obstacles, but Alhamdulillah, it can still be controlled,” said Avira.

Beneficiaries Welcome

Head of SD N Serangan, Endang Srie Wahjoenie, welcomed the MBG program. According to her, with this program, children who usually can’t eat breakfast or don’t have time to eat breakfast, can enjoy meals from the MBG program. “We are very grateful for what has been done,” said Endang.

One of SD N Serangan’s students, Andika Aliansyah, was happy to receive this nutritious meal. He ate the rice and side dishes that were served with gusto. “It’s delicious, there’s chicken, milk, vegetables, fruit,” said the grade 2 student.

Another student, Zahira Fauziah Firmansyah, was also happy to receive this nutritious meal. She also admitted that she finished the food she received. “Happy, delicious, finished, I like vegetables too,” she said.

UNISA Yogyakarta partners with PT Global Rancang Selaras to prepare students for employment

The Architecture Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta continues to boost the quality of its students to be ready to compete in the world of work. Most recently, the program officially established a strategic partnership with PT Global Rancang Selaras, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday (26/5) in the courtroom of Siti Moendjijah Building. The event was followed by an inspirational expert lecture.

The MoU signing was attended by UNISA Yogyakarta’s Vice Rector 4, Dr. Moh. Ali Imron, M.Fis, and Director of PT Global Rancang Selaras, Ir. Wahju Wulandari, MBA, IAI, AA, along with leaders from both parties. This cooperation is expected to open the gates of golden opportunities for architecture students.

In his speech, Ali Imron emphasized the importance of this collaboration to hone students’ potential. “With this collaboration, students get the opportunity to show their skills. Hopefully there are positive things that we can develop together,” he said hopefully.

In line with Ali Imron, Wahju Wulandari from PT Global Rancang Selaras also hopes that this collaboration will have a significant impact, both for the students and the company.

“We want our graduates to bring something concrete from here, not just an internship experience,” said Wulandari, signaling a commitment to providing experiences that go beyond theory.

Erlangga Winoto, Chairman of the Indonesian Architecture Association (IAI) D.I. Yogyakarta, also expressed his appreciation. He said that not many campuses have cooperation initiatives like this.

“I hope this collaboration can have a positive impact on students so that they are able to turn challenges into opportunities,” said Erlangga, encouraging the future architects.

UNISA Halal Center Trains Yogyakarta Slaughterers to Ensure Slaughter is In Accordance With Islamic Law

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta through the UNISA Halal Center has once again demonstrated its commitment in ensuring halal animal slaughter practices. For the second time, UNISA successfully held Halal Slaughterer training (JULEHA) on Saturday (5/24/2025). A total of 70 participants enthusiastically participated in this training, which ended with the practice of slaughtering 3 goats and 20 chickens according to Islamic law in the parking lot of Walidah Dahlan Mosque.

Chairman of the training committee, Hendrato Setiabudi Nugroho, S.E., M.Si., explained that the main objective of this training was to equip participants with skills that are in accordance with the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI).

“This comes from our concern. It turns out that many butchers have not carried out slaughter procedures in accordance with Sharia. This raises our sense of responsibility to literate and train their skills,” explained Hendrato.

He added that although this training has not reached the certification stage, it is hoped that the knowledge provided can be applied directly by the participants in the community. “Although we cannot reach certification, at least with this training we teach the knowledge for them to apply in the community later,” he continued.

The training was not only attended by UNISA students, but also involved local residents and representatives of Muhammadiyah branches throughout Yogyakarta, as well as collaborating with the Juleha Yogyakarta community which consists of certified butchers.

Ahmad Mutohar, one of the participants from Darussalam Kaliabu Kidul Mosque, Gamping, expressed his valuable experience. “In the past, I only saw, and when I was told to do it, I was not brave enough. Insha Allah, I have practiced slaughtering goats, and next year I will be brave enough to slaughter cows,” said Mutohar enthusiastically.

This training is expected to improve the quality of slaughtermen in Yogyakarta and ensure the consumption of halal meat for the community.

Successful in UI GreenMetric, UNISA Yogyakarta Welcomes UKDW to Share Green Campus Learnings and Innovations

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta is again in the spotlight of other academics. This time, Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta visited the ‘Aisyiyah campus on Thursday (23/5/2025) to conduct a comparative study. Located in the 7th floor meeting room of Siti Moendjijah Building, this meeting focused on discussing the UI GreenMetric ranking strategy.

Vice Rector I of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Sulistyaningsih, S.KM., MH.Kes, in her speech emphasized that UNISA’s vision is in line with UI GreenMetric’s criteria, which is to become a health-oriented campus.

“We direct every work program to achieve the indicators in this ranking. We learn by ourselves and incorporate the SDG’s program into the lecture curriculum and research,” said Sulis.

She added that all elements of the campus, from publications to other activities, also support the achievement of this ranking. “Hopefully this visit will become a sharing event for the progress of the nation,” she hoped.

Similarly, Vice Rector of UKDW, Dr. Parmonangan Manurung, S.T., M.T., IAI, conveyed the purpose of his team coming to UNISA Yogyakarta.

“We want to learn a lot about the UI GreenMetric ranking strategy that has brought UNISA Yogyakarta to 42nd place,” said Parmonangan.

During the discussion, UNISA Yogyakarta’s GreenMetric ranking team was also present to share experiences and insights with the UKDW delegation.

This visit proves UNISA Yogyakarta’s commitment to environmental sustainability and health, and inspires other universities to continue improving campus quality. UNISA continues to innovate for better education.
