The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta once again inaugurated health professionals through a Professional Oath procession at the Convention Hall of the Walidah Dahlan Mosque, UNISA Yogyakarta on Thursday (17/4/2025). This moment marks the graduates’ commitment to devote their knowledge and expertise in the world of health by upholding professional ethics.

A total of 170 graduates participated in the professional oath procession which included Physiotherapists, Nurses, and Medical Laboratory Technology Workers. The event was also broadcast live on UNISA Yogyakarta’s official YouTube channel.

In his report, the Dean of FIKes UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Dewi Rokhanawati, MPH, said that all oath participants had completed the academic process and national competency test (UKOM) with proud achievements. The details are 162 graduates from the Physiotherapist Profession, 4 from the Nursing Profession, and 4 from the Medical Laboratory Technology D4 Program.

“Alhamdulillah, the average achievement of the National UKOM reached 92.76%, with the Physiotherapist and Nursing Profession obtaining 100% graduation, and Medical Laboratory Technology reaching 86%,” explained Dewi.

Not only that, the graduates also recorded outstanding academic achievements. The highest GPA at the professional level reached 4.00, while at the D4 level it reached 3.73. Most of the physiotherapy graduates (159 people) obtained the title of graduation with honors (cum laude), as well as all graduates of the Nursing Profession.

The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., in her speech emphasized the importance of integrity and noble character in the health profession. “UNISA graduates must uphold professional ethics. The knowledge you gain must be accompanied by moral and spiritual responsibility,” said Warsiti.

Warsiti also informed that starting this year, UNISA opens opportunities for graduates to broaden their horizons and seek work experience abroad. “We hope that this will be good news for our graduates, and of course the support of parents is expected so that your beloved children can develop themselves globally,” she said.

Responding to the rampant cases of professional ethics violations that have gone viral in the community, the Rector expressed his concern. “We must learn from these cases. The slightest carelessness by health workers can have a big impact and reduce public trust. We hope that UNISA graduates will always maintain morals, ethics, and professionalism in their duties,” he said.

This moment was a source of pride for the parents and families of the graduates who were present to witness the professional oath procession. FIKes UNISA Yogyakarta affirms its commitment to continue producing health workers who are superior, ethical, and contribute significantly to national and global health development.

The event was also attended by university leaders, clergy, representatives of professional organizations, as well as hospital partners and health service institutions. The procession took place solemnly and was closed with prayers and expressions of gratitude.

Kekerasan seksual 2

The recent cases of sexual harassment and violence in Indonesia are an irony. Various factors encourage cases of sexual harassment and violence, ranging from patriarchal culture to psychological disorders.

“Recent cases of sexual harassment and violence are a complex and concerning phenomenon,” said Psychology Lecturer at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, Ratna Yunita Setiyani Subardjo, S.Psi., M.Psi, Psychologist, Saturday (12/4/2025).

Nita said that behind academic degrees and respected positions, some educated individuals actually abuse their power and influence to commit very inappropriate actions. “One of the factors that allows sexual violence to occur is the patriarchal culture that is still strong in society,” said Nita.

The view of women as objects that can be used and controlled is still inherent in some layers of society, including among the educated. This can influence their behavior and make them feel they have the right to control and take advantage of others. In addition, positions of power and access to vast resources can also make educated people with power feel unreachable by law and accountability. “They may feel that they can do anything without consequences, because they have great power and influence,” says Nita.

Another factor is the lack of empathy. The knowledge gained as an educated person is used as a tool to achieve and satisfy lust. Some of what happens may be because there are indications of psychological factors, such as psychological problems and psychological disorders. A bad childhood, having been sexually abused, or being used to watching pornography can be other causes. The existence of sexual disorientation, the habit of treating others arbitrarily and libido that is not in line with the super ego are reinforcing factors why this is easy to happen. The super ego in humans can actually control humans if they want to do bad things, if the super ego does not function and the ego becomes dominant, then there is no empathy without thinking about the effects of everything that will happen.

“The ego has the power to be fulfilled, that’s what makes them frenzied and want and want to continue doing these things without shame. However, keep in mind that sexual violence does not only occur due to these factors. Trauma and psychological disorders can also affect a person’s behavior. Some educated people may have a history of trauma or psychological disorders that affect their behavior,” he said.

The impact of sexual violence on victims is profound and prolonged. Victims may experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and prolonged anxiety. Sexual violence can also affect the victim’s ability to form healthy relationships with others. Therefore, efforts to prevent and treat sexual violence are very important. Public education and awareness about sexual violence and its impact can help prevent cases like this.

“Support to victims, such as counseling and legal aid, is also very important to help them recover. Strict law enforcement against perpetrators of sexual violence can serve as a deterrent and prevent similar cases in the future,” Nita concluded.
