In the wake of extreme weather, UNISA Yogyakarta security guards and cleaning service staff are trained to use PPE
In the aftermath of an incident involving a number of trees falling due to heavy rain and strong winds a few days ago, Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta took immediate action. Field staff were trained in the proper and safe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The activity, organized by the Asset and General Affairs Bureau (BAU) on Wednesday (October 8, 2025), targeted the frontline workers of the campus. These include security guards, cleaning service staff, and parking attendants who face various risks on the field every day.
UNISA’s K3 and Security Coordinator, Nindha Prabaningrum, S.Ftr., Ftr, M.PH., emphasized the importance of preparedness. According to her, the fallen tree incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can occur in the workplace.
“PPE serves as the last line of defense that protects the body from danger, such as what happened a few days ago when rain and wind hit the UNISA Yogyakarta campus,” said Nindha in her presentation.
This awareness campaign is not just theoretical. Participants were invited to practice how to properly wear various types of PPE, from safety helmets, gloves, to boots. They were ensured to understand how to use the equipment effectively in emergency situations. This step was taken by UNISA Yogyakarta to ensure the safety of its workers and create a safer campus environment.
