Outstanding Lecturers at UNISA Yogyakarta: Friends of Students and Excellent Researchers

 Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta should be proud of the achievements and inspiration of its lecturers. One of them is Nia Handayani, S.Tr.Kep., M.K.M, a lecturer in the D4 Anesthesiology Nursing Study Program. She is known not only as a teacher but also as a friend who is always there for her students.

Since joining in 2018, Nia has interpreted her profession as a long journey of never-ending learning. For her, a lecturer’s duty is not only to impart knowledge but also to accompany students in every stage of their development. “For me, being a lecturer is not just about imparting knowledge but also accompanying students in every stage of their learning. I want students to feel that they are not walking alone,” she said.

In her daily life, Nia strives to understand the character of the new generation, adapt her teaching methods, and embrace students so that they feel close and supported. She often likens life’s journey to climbing a mountain: even though the path is steep and full of challenges, the beauty at the summit will repay all the fatigue. She applies this philosophy in the academic world, both when guiding students and when conducting research.

Not only focused on teaching, Nia is also actively engaged in research. She has successfully secured various research grants, ranging from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Muhammadiyah Research, to internal university grants. Several of her research findings have also been published in reputable national journals, demonstrating her consistency in making a real contribution to the development of science.

Beyond academic achievements, Nia Handayani aims to convey a simple yet profound message to everyone she meets. “Life isn’t about being perfect, but about how we can keep learning, growing, and benefiting others. Be the best version of yourself,” she says.
