Caring For Mental Health, BKA and BLP UNISA Yogyakarta Hold Workshop
The Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni (BKA) of Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, in close collaboration with the Bureau of Psychology Services (BLP), held a Student Peer Group Workshop themed Care for Mental Health. The event, which took place from 28 February to 1 March 2024, was attended by all third semester students from various study programs on the UNISA Yogyakarta campus.
This workshop is a forum for students to increase their understanding and skills in dealing with various problems, both in academic and non-academic contexts, and especially in mental health.
Ardiansyah Rahmat Hidayatullah, S.Ars., M.Arch, as Coordinator of Reasoning Creativity and Entrepreneurship of BKA UNISA Yogyakarta, stated that the main purpose of organizing this workshop is to train students in the initial handling of peers who experience various problems.
“With this workshop, we hope that students can actively seek solutions to problems faced by fellow students, as well as being able to foster therapeutic communication,” said Rahmat.
The workshop involved 9 presenters from psychologists who are experts in their fields. Each material was delivered through interactive sessions involving discussions, questions and answers, and practical examples to strengthen participants’ understanding. The material discussed includes various aspects of mental health and early treatment strategies that can be carried out by students in the campus environment.
The active participation of students in this workshop is an important point, where they are encouraged to play an active role in supporting the mental health of fellow students. Thus, it is hoped that the campus will not only be a place to pursue academic achievements, but also an environment that supports mental health for the entire community.
This Student Peer Group Workshop on Mental Health is expected to be a meaningful first step in creating wider awareness and understanding of the importance of maintaining and caring for mental health on campus.
