The Unisa Yogyakarta Community Service Team (PKM) conducted a community service activity entitled Pro Handini (Interdisciplinary-based Early Marriage Prevention Program) at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta on August 23, 2024. This activity is one of the PKMs that has been funded by Kemristekdikti for the 2024 fiscal year.

The team leader, Endang Koni Suryaningsih, MSc.N-M., Ph.D. stated that this activity was the result of a follow-up to the proposing team’s previous research on early marriage in Yogyakarta which recommended to educate about the impact of early marriage in the school environment, in addition, Pro Handini was created based on the analysis of the content of health education materials at the partner site that the students’ formal source of information on reproductive health comes from science subjects in class IX semester 1.

Ideally, information about reproductive health is given as early as possible to students. In addition, the material content discussed is still very general and superficial, while students need specific, in-depth and unique reproductive health information, besides that students also need to be equipped with a psychological approach in understanding the concept of RHR. There are 2 programs carried out by the PKM ProHandini team, namely the absence of an Adolescent Reproductive Health Information Center in an effort to prevent early marriage and the low knowledge of students regarding the concept of adolescent reproductive health, psychological health and the use of social media.

The Pro Handini team consists of Dyorita Kh, S.Psi, M.Psi. Psychologist and Ade Putra TWS, S.Ilkom, M.A. and from students consisting of psychology students (Danar Gumilang Hartono and Desi Permatasari), Midwifery students (Salma Nurahmawati and Alluna Kylla Nahira), Communication Science students (Ilham Dyas N and Wachidah Nur H). Also attending today’s activity was the Principal of SMP Muhammadiyah 7, Supriyadi, S.Pd., M.Pd. accompanied by the Counseling Guidance Team, the UKS Team, and the Student Affairs Team, as well as prospective peer counselors from grades 7 and 8 who had gone through a previous selection process. After the event, the agenda continued with the formation of the management of the Youth Reproductive Health Information Center of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta. After that, the formation of a communication forum for peer counselors and PIKR coaches and directors accompanied by the Yogyakarta Pro HandiniUnisa Team. The purpose of this PKM has 3 objectives:

2) Establishing an Information Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health (PIKR-R) as an effort to prevent early marriage at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta.
