Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting public health education through community service activities. This time, the activity was held at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with the theme “Adolescent Reproductive Health.”

The event was attended by 293 eighth and ninth-grade students, comprising 135 female students and 158 male students, as part of a character-building program for adolescents. Two speakers from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta were present to provide important education on reproductive health:

Tri Hapsari Listyaningrum, SST., MH, lecturer in the Bachelor of Midwifery Program

Gatot Suparmanto, S.Kep., Ns., M.Sc, lecturer in the Anesthesiology Nursing Division

The topics covered included understanding the male and female reproductive systems, puberty, adolescent sexuality, adolescents’ rights in reproductive health, and the importance of making healthy and responsible decisions during adolescence. The students were also encouraged to recognize common challenges faced by adolescents, such as peer pressure, myths surrounding sexuality, and the risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and teenage pregnancy.

The presentation of material was conducted in an interactive and participatory manner, tailored to the age and psychological development of the participants. The activity not only included scientific presentations but was also complemented by open discussions and reflective quizzes to measure students’ understanding of the material presented.

The principal of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta, Supriyadi, S.Pd., M.Si, expressed high appreciation to UNISA Yogyakarta for organizing this activity. “We are deeply grateful for the presence of UNISA lecturers who have provided important education to our students. Such activities are crucial for equipping teenagers with the knowledge to maintain their reproductive health properly and responsibly,” he said.

This community service initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and schools in nurturing a healthy, intelligent, and empowered younger generation, particularly in addressing the increasingly complex reproductive health issues in today’s digital age.
