The Warmth of Syawalan UNISA Yogyakarta: Strengthen Friendship, Encourage The Spirit of Excellence

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held a Syawalan event entitled “Affirming the Spirit of Excellence for the Good and Progress of the Nation” on Wednesday (09/04). This warm event took place in the Convention Hall of Walidah Dahlan Mosque, UNISA Yogyakarta campus, and was attended by all levels of lecturers, employees, university leaders, and former employees who have contributed to the development of UNISA.

Syawalan, which is a tradition of gathering after the month of Ramadan, is an important momentum for the big family of UNISA Yogyakarta to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and togetherness. More than just a friendly gathering, this event is also a forum for reflection and affirmation of the commitment of the entire academic community in realizing the excellence of the spirit that is oriented towards the welfare and progress of the Indonesian nation.

The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat, expressed her hope that the spirit of Ramadan and Shawwal can be a strong foundation to unite hearts and strengthen collaboration in the campus environment. She emphasized that as a higher education institution, UNISA Yogyakarta has a great responsibility in producing a superior generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also has moral integrity and high social care.

“As higher education institutions, we have the moral and intellectual responsibility to continue to encourage a culture of excellence in learning, research, and community service. We must direct the spirit of excellence to empower, and become a driving force for the progress of the Indonesian nation,” said Warsiti.

The Syawalan event this time was also a special moment with the awarding of Umrah to 10 UNISA Yogyakarta lecturers and employees who have served faithfully for 15 years. This award is a form of appreciation for their dedication and loyalty in advancing UNISA Yogyakarta. In addition, UNISA Yogyakarta also provided assistance to employees who will perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year, as a form of concern and support for the welfare of the campus family.

The Chairperson of the UNISA Yogyakarta Board of Trustees, Dr. Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, MM, M.Si, also delivered her speech. Noordjannah emphasized that the spirit of Syawalan after Ramadan must continue to be actualized in the life of the association, especially in advancing UNISA Yogyakarta as part of the ‘Aisyiyah movement. The spirit of togetherness, mutual forgiveness, and strengthening ukhuwah Islamiyah that grew during Ramadan is expected to continue to imprint and encourage better performance.

“We are here with happiness because we have completed the Ramadan worship without wasting the month of blessing and forgiveness as well as possible,” said Noordjannah.

She also invited the entire UNISA Yogyakarta family to continue to innovate and contribute significantly in educating the nation and advancing the welfare of the people.

To enlighten and deepen the meaning of Syawalan, the event also presented the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PWM) of Yogyakarta, Dr. M. Ikhwan Ahada, S.Ag., MA, as the main speaker. In his tausiah, he conveyed messages of wisdom about the importance of maintaining the spirit of goodness and worship that has been practiced during Ramadan, and applying it in everyday life. Ikhwan Ahada also underlined the important role of UNISA Yogyakarta as a Muhammadiyah educational institution in producing cadres of people and nation with noble character and high competitiveness.
