Students from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta brought posyandu services to prison, specifically to the Class IIB Sleman Correctional Institution. The target audience was elderly inmates.

The event held on Friday (September 5, 2025) was not just an ordinary posyandu. In addition to basic health checks such as blood pressure and weight measurements, the elderly inmates were also invited to participate in “Happy Exercise” with the students.

The UNISA Yogyakarta Student Creativity Program (PKM) team deliberately designed this activity to provide easily accessible health services as well as enjoyable physical activities. The atmosphere was lively as the elderly inmates followed simple exercise movements set to music.

The program coordinator, Putri Na’ima Adawiyah Rahmatullah, explained that the main objective of this activity was to improve the quality of life for elderly inmates in the correctional facility.

“Through Posyandu and healthy exercises, we want to provide easily accessible health services as well as enjoyable physical activities. The hope is that the elderly will feel healthier and more energetic,” said Putri.

This initiative has received full support from prison officials and local health workers. This collaboration is expected to make Posyandu Lansia a regular agenda to ensure that elderly inmates remain fit and healthy.
