Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held a midwife profession oath ceremony on Thursday (15/5) at the Convention Hall of Masjid Walidah Dahlan UNISA Yogyakarta. A total of 134 graduates of the Midwifery Professional Study Program were officially inaugurated and took professional oaths as professional midwives.
The education report was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Dewi Rokhanawati, MPH, who reported that 98.5% of graduates achieved the title of With Praise and the achievement of passing the National Competency Test (UKOMNAS) reached 100%. “This graduation is not the end point, but the beginning of real service in the community,” she said.
The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, M.Kep., Sp.Mat., in her speech expressed her appreciation and hopes for the graduates. She emphasized that the midwifery profession is not only a technical job, but also a calling to serve with the heart, bring justice, and accompany life from the beginning. “Aisyiyah midwives are the vanguard who must be present in the community, bridging those who have not spoken out so that their health rights are fulfilled,” she said.
Dr. Warsiti also reminded the challenges still faced by midwifery, especially in reducing maternal mortality rates (MMR) and infant mortality rates (IMR), which still have not reached the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target. Therefore, the role of Aisyiyah midwives as the frontline in community health services is very strategic.
She invited all graduates to maintain the spirit of learning, uphold professional ethics, and become UNISA ambassadors who carry Islamic, empathic, and professional values wherever they serve. “Aisyiyah midwives not only have medical skills, but also integrity, morals, and sincerity in service,” she concluded.
Also attending the event were the Chairperson of the Yogyakarta IBI Regional Board, UNISA leadership, lecturers, clinical preceptors, and parents and guardians of graduates. UNISA Yogyakarta also opens opportunities for further study in the Midwifery Master Program and prepares international career paths for graduates through the U-ACE program. On this occasion, UNISA Yogyakarta awarded scholarships to 2 midwifery graduates to continue their studies in the Master of Midwifery Program at UNISA Yogyakarta.
This activity is part of UNISA Yogyakarta’s commitment to produce female health workers who are superior, Islamic, and ready to become agents of change for the community.
