One of the problems in developing countries is the increase in degenerative diseases, one of which is hypertension. It is estimated that hypertension sufferers will increase rapidly in the next 15 years, especially in developing countries. The negative impacts are quite large, including stroke for the brain, coronary heart disease for the heart blood vessels and for the heart muscle. Given the increasing incidence of hypertension and the danger of complications caused, it is necessary to check blood pressure, uric acid and glucose as well as counseling on blood pressure, blood sugar and uric acid levels to monitor their health conditions more easily.

This community service was carried out by Yekti Satriyandari, S.ST., M.Kes and Fathiyaturrohmah, S.ST., M.Kes along with students from the Midwifery Study Program of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta in Vietnam, precisely in the Old City of Hoi An, especially at the paradise hotel and also the Hoi An Conversation Hall. The PKM team chose to check blood pressure, uric acid and glucose as well as counseling on blood pressure, blood sugar levels and excessive uric acid. Activity Objective The purpose of this activity is to provide basic health information to the community about Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Uric Acid.

Hoi An is a legendary city with a well-preserved Old Town atmosphere that is visited by many tourists, both international and domestic tourists. In Hoi An there is a Legendary Night where colorful lanterns are lit throughout the city and local food is served around the stunning Hoi An Old Town. With the characteristics of the area in Hoi An, many people work as traders, tourguides until nighttime, which disturbs public health. The tradition of the people in Hoi An is that many elderly women and men work until night to sell along the streets and in the legendary night area. Women who are wives and mothers as well as workers, tend to lead them to work-family conflict related to their main duties as mothers and wives.

PKM activities began with socialization related to the implementation of international service activities to visitors, peddlers in the Conversation Hall area and fellow VICC competition teams. Through this socialization activity, it is hoped that it can attract many participants to participate in the examination so that community service activities can run as expected. Furthermore, preparing the place and means of implementing health checks includes checking blood pressure, uric acid and blood sugar.

Implementation of community service activities at the hotel on April 4 – 5, 2023 at 06.00-08.00 with the target of hotel workers and visitors staying at the hotel. Continued at the Conversation Hall on April 4 – 5, 2023 at 10.00-15.00 with the target of sellers and also VICC contestants.

From the examination results, 2 participants were found to have blood pressure above normal (140/90 mmHg). From the anamnesis conducted, it was found that there were several residents who had a history of hypertension and many of them had high risk factors for hypertension, namely a lifestyle that was not well controlled. When the activity began, the elderly who came were directed to register, after which blood pressure measurements, blood glucose and uric acid checks were carried out using the stick method.

Overall, this international service activity runs well and smoothly and can provide benefits to the participants.
