UNISA Yogyakarta Opens New Research Laboratory, Urges Lecturers and Students to Not Only Pursue Publications
Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta officially launched its Integrated Research Laboratory on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). This new facility is expected to become a melting pot for researchers and students to produce cross-disciplinary innovations.
The laboratory, located in the Siti Bariyah Building, houses various specialized research labs. These include the Biotechnology Lab, Information Technology Lab, Architecture Lab, Physical Therapy Lab, Nutrition Lab, and Animal Testing Lab.
During the inauguration, the Head of the UNISA Yogyakarta Laboratory Unit, Dr. Dhesi Ari Astuti, S.SiT., M.Kes., delivered a strong message. She expressed her hope that this facility would not only symbolize progress but also transform the research culture on campus.
“We hope this laboratory will become a space for collaboration. The hope is that research results will not only end up in publications, but will also have a real impact on society,” said Dhesi.
In line with this, Research Coordinator Wiwit Probowati, S.Si., M. Biotech., PhD., added that the main objective is to motivate students to actively participate in technology-based research and innovation.
The launch event also featured an online seminar attended by 130 participants. With the establishment of this integrated research laboratory, UNISA Yogyakarta reaffirms its commitment to becoming a university that excels not only in teaching but also in impactful research.
