UNISA Yogyakarta Spreads Ramadan Blessings, Distributes Hundreds of Food Packages to Neighborhood Residents

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta showed its commitment in spreading goodness in the holy month of Ramadan 1446 H. Hundreds of packages of healthy groceries were distributed to residents from six hamlets around the UNISA Yogyakarta campus, Wednesday (19/3/2025). The activity titled “Ta`awun Sosial” is a concrete manifestation of UNISA Yogyakarta’s concern for the people in need.
In a warm atmosphere, Walidah Dahlan Mosque became the center of the food distribution. The residents who attended not only received assistance, but also received counseling from competent speakers.
Vice Rector III of UNISA Yogyakarta, Prof. Mufdlilah, S.SiT., M.Si., in her speech said that this activity is not just a momentary social action, but part of UNISA Yogyakarta’s ongoing efforts to establish closeness and ease the burden on the community.
“We hope that UNISA Yogyakarta is not only a center of education, but also a solution to social problems in the community. The social service that we are doing today is also a formulation of the value of sharing, helping each other in goodness,” said Mufdlilah.
Mufdlilah added, this activity also aims to strengthen the relationship between UNISA Yogyakarta and the residents around the campus. “We want UNISA Yogyakarta to be able to provide real benefits to the surrounding community. With humanitarian and Islamic values as the basis for building, we strive to be part of the community,” she said.
Nurcahyo, the village head of Nogosaren, expressed his deep gratitude. He appreciated UNISA Yogyakarta’s concern for helping by distributing groceries to its residents.
“Hopefully, this kind of activity can improve the welfare around UNISA Yogyakarta. We hope that this good cooperation can continue in the future,” said Nurcahyo.
In addition to the residents of the six hamlets around the campus, groceries were also distributed, assisted villages (notoprajan, balecatur and sidoagung), `Aisyiyah Sewugalur and `Aisyiyah Panjatan clinics as well as ABA kindergartens, elementary and high schools Muhammadiyah in DIY.
The Ramadhan Social Ta`awun activity is a form of implementation of Islamic values and care upheld by UNISA Yogyakarta in collaboration with Walidah Dahlan Mosque and LAZISMU UNISA. Through this activity, UNISA Yogyakarta wants to show that higher education does not only focus on intellectual development, but also has a social responsibility to help people in need.
