Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta continues to improve itself to maintain its quality and competitiveness in the national university scene. As proof of this commitment, UNISA Yogyakarta held an Islamic Leadership Training (ILT) for leaders, heads of bureaus, and heads of units within the campus. The two-day event, which took place on March 25-26, 2025 at Baroroh Baried Hall, Siti Walidah Building, UNISA Yogyakarta, carried the theme “Developing Human Resources and Organizational Governance Based on Progressive Spirituality”.

The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., in her speech emphasized the importance of maintaining and improving the quality that has been achieved.

“This excellent accreditation is not the end, but the beginning of greater challenges. We must be able to fill this achievement with innovation and changes in mindset,” said Warsiti.

Warsiti added that UNISA Yogyakarta has a great responsibility to instill progressive Islamic values in every activity and program. “We must be able to frame our every step with progressive Islamic values, so that UNISA Yogyakarta not only excels academically, but also excels in practicing Islamic values,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the UNISA Yogyakarta Board of Trustees, Dr. Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, M.M., M.Sc., emphasized the importance of leadership training to face future challenges.

“Leaders should never run out of energy. We must keep moving, encouraging, and creating a joyful atmosphere,” Noordjannah said.

Noordjannah also reminded that effective leadership requires human resource development and organizational governance based on progressive spirituality.

“Values such as transparency, accountability, responsibility, and equality must be the foundation of every decision-making,” she explained.

This ILT aims to increase the capacity of UNISA Yogyakarta leaders in actualizing the basic values of the association and building synergy in university development. The training materials from 5 highly credible resource persons were designed to equip participants with an understanding of progressive Islamic leadership, as well as the ability to implement effective and efficient organizational governance.

With this training, UNISA Yogyakarta hopes to produce leaders who are not only professionally competent, but also have moral integrity and commitment to progressive Islamic values. This step is expected to strengthen UNISA Yogyakarta’s position as one of the Muhammadiyah universities that excels and contributes significantly to the progress of the nation.
