Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta celebrated its 33rd anniversary by holding an Open Senate Session and Rector’s Report attended by the Minister of Health (Menkes RI) on Wednesday (04/09). The event took place in the Convention Hall of Walidah Dahlan Mosque, attended by the entire academic community of UNISA Yogyakarta as well as invited guests from various agencies.

As the highlight of the Open Senate Session, several important figures attended the event. The Indonesian Minister of Health, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, S.Si., CHFC, CLU, gave a keynote speech about the importance of health as the main foundation even before education. Because the Minister of Health’s programs are made even before birth, with programs to maintain the nutrition of pregnant women to prepare a healthy and intelligent generation for the future.

Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Leadership, Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si, congratulated the 33rd anniversary of Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta. According to him, UNISA until now, has shown rapid progress and extraordinary achievements and will be a milestone for all Aisyiyah universities.

Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat said, if almost all aspects, UNISA Yogyakarta has increased compared to the previous year, including international collaboration and activities, innovation work, number of students, number of scholarships, student achievement, research and community service.

On this occasion, UNISA Yogyakarta’s Faculty of Medicine was officially launched. The presence of this medical faculty will further strengthen UNISA Yogyakarta’s position as one of the leading private universities in Indonesia, especially in the field of health.

The Open Senate Session is not only the closing ceremony of UNISA Yogyakarta’s 33rd anniversary, but also a momentum to evaluate UNISA Yogyakarta’s performance over the past year. The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta will submit a report containing the university’s achievements and future development plans.

With the theme Berkhidmat Memajukan Peradaban Bangsa, the Open Senate Session is expected to inspire all UNISA Yogyakarta academicians to continue to contribute in advancing education and health in Indonesia.

In an effort to raise awareness of the younger generation on the importance of healthy financial management and the dangers of drug abuse, KKN students of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held a socialization at the Plumbon Village Hall, Temon, Kulon Progo, Saturday (31/08). This activity was attended by 20 teenagers from Sringkel and Salam 3 hamlets.

Muhamad Iksal Rumalean, the chief executive of the educational socialization activity, expressed his gratitude for the participation of all parties.

“We hope that this educational socialization can provide a comprehensive understanding to teenagers about how to manage finances wisely and the dangers that lurk if they fall into drug abuse,” he said.

In line with Iksal, Sujono, Dukuh Salam 3, also highlighted the importance of this activity. “Cases of drug abuse among teenagers are increasingly worrying. Through socialization like this, we hope to provide enough knowledge for them to stay away from drugs,” said Sujono.

Educational materials include financial management delivered by Nabila Az-Zahra, a Management Study Program student, and the dangers of drugs presented by Imelda Oktaviani, a Midwifery Study Program student. Field Supervisors, Lulu Syifa Pratama and Bdn. Intan Mutiara Putri, also provided support and direction.

Nabila emphasized the importance of early financial planning so that teenagers can achieve their life goals.

“With good financial management, teenagers can avoid debt and have savings for the future,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Imelda explained the different types of drugs, their negative impact on health, and how to prevent abuse. “Peer support is very important in drug prevention efforts,” she said.

The Biotechnology Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta officially collaborates with the Research Center for Food Technology and Processes of the Food and Agricultural Research Organization of the National Research and Innovation Agency (PRTPP-ORPP BRIN). This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Research on the Exploration of Indigenous Indonesian Microorganisms for the Development of Biotechnology-Based Agriculture and Food Industries, Wednesday (28/08).

The signing ceremony took place in the Siti Moendjijah building at UNISA Yogyakarta. Tika Ainunnisa Fitria, S.T., M.T., Ph.D as Dean of FST UNISA Yogyakarta hopes that this collaboration can have a positive impact on both parties, especially in improving the quality of food research.

“We are optimistic that this collaboration will bring significant benefits to the development of science and technology in the field of biotechnology, especially in the context of developing the agricultural and food industry in Indonesia,” said Tika in her speech.

In line with Tika, Head of BRIN’s Food Technology and Process Research Center, Satriyo Krido Wahono, S.T., Ph.D said that this collaboration is a continuation of the previous collaboration that has been established with BPTPA.

“With the transition to BRIN, we are increasingly focused on developing research in the food sector. This collaboration with UNISA is expected to strengthen our research in the field of microorganisms native to Indonesia,” he said.

Biotechnology

Furthermore, Arif Bimantara, S.Pi., M.Biotech as the Head of UNISA’s Biotechnology Study Program explained that this collaboration will focus on three main studies, namely the exploration of potential microalgae, the development of exopolysaccharides, and potential microorganisms from the rhizosphere of organic salak plantations. “These three topics are very relevant to the challenges faced by the agriculture and food industry today,” Arif said.

This collaboration will not only improve the quality and quantity of lecturers’ research publications, but also provide opportunities for students to engage in research activities in collaboration with BRIN researchers. Through the MBKM program and independent research, students are expected to gain real experience in the world of research.

Wahyu Aditia Rawul, a student of the Public Administration Study Program at the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities (FEISHum) Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, won two prestigious awards at an international event organized by the Indonesia Youth Excursion Network (IYEN) on August 20-23, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Adit, his nickname, won 1st place for Best Presentation and 2nd place for Best Video Innovation, a proud achievement for himself and the university.

Adit managed to outperform other participants from various countries who participated in IYEN 2024. “Alhamdulillah, I did not expect to get this opportunity, let alone win two champions at once in the international arena,” said Adit gratefully.

A month of careful preparation was the key to Adit’s success in this competition. He said that creativity and innovation are important aspects in the IYEN 2024 event. The support from UNISA Yogyakarta’s Public Administration study program also contributed to his success.

In this competition, Adit and his team succeeded in creating a digital innovation that aims to increase student interest in learning in 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost) areas in Indonesia. This innovation became the highlight of the event and proved that Indonesian students are able to compete internationally.

This achievement is expected to be a motivation for other students to continue to excel and make the nation proud in various international events. UNISA Yogyakarta is also proud of Adit’s achievement, which has made the alma mater proud in the global arena.

Tapak Suci UNISA Yogyakarta Makes New History in Indonesia Super Championship 2024

Tapak Suci Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta once again made the campus proud. In the prestigious Indonesia Super Championship 2024 held at Padepokan Pencak Silat TMII East Jakarta, on August 23-25, 2024, the Tapak Suci contingent of UNISA Yogyakarta won 14 medals.

This brilliant achievement was achieved through the hard struggle of UNISA Yogyakarta fighters who managed to dominate various categories. The medal details are 9 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 4 bronze medals. All of these proud achievements were achieved both in the art category and national level competitions.

Azmi, one of UNISA Yogyakarta’s medalists, expressed his gratitude and pride for the team’s achievements.

“This victory is the result of the hard work of all members of Tapak Suci UNISA Yogyakarta. We practiced very hard and supported each other. Solid cooperation between coaches and athletes is also the key to our success,” said Azmi.
