In an effort to improve the quality of life of the community and realize a healthy and sakinah family, the University of ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta through the Community Service Program (PKM) initiated a program to empower health cadres in the working area of the ‘Aisyiyah Sewu Galur Clinic. The program, named Gerakan ‘Aisyiyah Sehat (GRASS), aims to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres in providing health education to the community.
Improving Quality
PKM Chair, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Mat, explained that the program focuses on several important health aspects, such as maternal and child health, nutrition and stunting, reproductive health, clean and healthy living behaviors, elderly health, and mental health.
“Through the GRASS program, we hope that cadres can become agents of change in the community, helping families realize a healthier and happier life,” said Warsiti.
Intensive Training for Cadres
Since July 2024, ‘Aisyiyah health cadres have participated in a series of intensive trainings designed by the service team from UNISA Yogyakarta. The training covers materials relevant to the needs of the community, such as how to provide effective counseling, address malnutrition, and maintain mental health.
“We use varied training methods, such as lectures, questions and answers, and role plays, so that the material can be delivered well and easily understood by the cadres,” said Dr. Yuli Isnaeni, one of the service team members.
Implementation in the Field
After the training, the cadres immediately applied the knowledge they had gained by providing health counseling to their community. The service team from UNISA Yogyakarta periodically conducts monitoring and evaluation to ensure the program is running well.
“We hope this program can have a significant impact on the community, especially in raising awareness of the importance of maintaining health,” added Andri Wuri Astuti, another member of the service team.
Collaboration with the Central Leadership of ‘Aisyiyah
The GRASS program is the result of a collaboration between UNISA Yogyakarta and the Central Leadership of ‘Aisyiyah. This shows the commitment of both institutions in improving the quality of community welfare, especially in the health sector.
