Pregnancy is a beautiful moment full of hope. However, it is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience anxiety that can interfere with mental and physical health. Realizing this, the Service Team of Midwifery Lecturers at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta took the initiative to organize a class for pregnant women with interesting innovations at Puskesmas Kasihan 1 Bantul.

The activity, which was attended by 20 pregnant women, combined two proven effective approaches, namely Al-Quran Healing and Prenatal Yoga.

“Almost one in five pregnant women experience mental health problems during pregnancy,” said Nunung Ismiyatun, S.ST, Coordinator Midwife of Kasihan 1 Health Center.

Quran Healing: Healing the Soul with Divine Words

Quranic therapy has long been recognized as an effective way to overcome various psychological problems, including anxiety.

“This approach is psychologically beneficial, reducing stress and anxiety levels, and helping to calm the minds of pregnant women,” said Bdn.Suyani, S.ST., M.Keb, Head of the Community Service Team.

By listening to the chanting of the holy verses of the Quran, pregnant women are expected to feel inner calm and reduce worry.

In addition to Al-Quran Healing, this class also presents Prenatal Yoga. Gentle yoga movements and proper breathing techniques can help pregnant women relax, increase flexibility, and strengthen the muscles needed during labor.

“The integration between religious therapy and prenatal yoga can be an effective method in supporting the mental health of pregnant women during pregnancy,” added Bdn.Intan Mutiara Putri, S.ST., M.Keb.

By combining these two approaches, UNISA Yogyakarta offers a holistic solution to overcome anxiety in pregnant women. In addition to the physical benefits, this activity is also expected to improve the quality of relationships between pregnant women, partners, and families. Strong social support is essential to maintain a mother’s mental health during pregnancy.

This activity is part of UNISA Yogyakarta’s efforts to optimize maternity classes. With interesting innovations, it is hoped that the class can become a comfortable space for pregnant women to share experiences, get accurate information, and maintain mental and physical health.
