Universitas Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta established a collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) marked by the signing of a cooperation letter in Malaysia, Monday (5/5/2025). This collaboration further strengthens UNISA Yogyakarta’s position at the international level.
The collaboration with UMK is the first of its kind for UNISA Yogyakarta. “We are currently not only focusing on the number of MoU documents, but more than that. UNISA Yogyakarta must ensure that after the MoU is signed, international activities will be carried out,” said UNISA Yogyakarta Rector, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat, Tuesday (6/5/2025).
Warsiti said that UMK has an advantage in the field of entrepreneurship, therefore UNISA Yogyakarta also tries to absorb this knowledge by supporting further study activities for S3 lecturers. In addition, various other cooperation activities will also be carried out.
“We hope that this cooperation with UMK will be followed up with international activities. Such as outbound and inbound student exchanges, credit transfer, international conferences and including lecturers’ further studies,” said Warsiti.
Warsiti said that in the future UNISA Yogyakarta will continue to strengthen the academic community, both lecturers, teaching staff, and students to be actively involved in international activities. “Overseas activities that are not just euphoric, but that have an impact on the university and the development of personal capacity,” said Warsiti.
Previously, Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP), Prof. Haedar Nashir said the signing of this cooperation was the first step for stronger and more specific cooperation in the future.
“Only in the future we will be specific, and strengthen cooperation with PTMA (Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities) that have the potential to be cooperated,” Haedar hoped.
Meanwhile, Naib Canselor UMK, YBrs. Prof.Ts.Dr. Arham bin Abdullah hopes that the signing of this LoA will become a pillar and a strong rope to establish friendship for cooperation between Muhammadiyah and UMK. “We want to strengthen, strengthen the bond of cooperation, collaboration between us and this great Muhammadiyah,” he said.
In fact, according to him, UMK wants to increase the network with PTMA not only with the five campuses that signed the LoA today. Prof. Arham also wants to bind cooperation with the Education and Research Council of PP Muhammadiyah later.
It is known that apart from the Rector of Unisa Yogyakarta Warsiti, the signing was also carried out by the Rector of UMSurabaya, Mundakir; UMP Rector, Jebul Suroso; UMRI Rector, Sa’idul Amin, and UM Cirebon Rector represented by the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Dr. Agus Taufiqurrahman.
