TheMinister of Public Works (PU) of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Dody Hanggodo, MPE reviewed the prospective land for the construction of a flat for students of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, at the UNISA Yogyakarta Integrated Campus, Monday (17/2/2025). This flat is expected to support the education of UNISA Yogyakarta students.

Dody said that his party is committed to supporting education in Indonesia to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045. “The main point of achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 is education. We talked to the Chairpersons of PP Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah who we all know are more focused on education and health,” said Dody.

His party will also try to support the construction of the UNISA Yogyakarta flat. The Head of the Center at the Ministry will also coordinate with the technical team at UNISA Yogyakarta. “So that Muhammadiyah and the government can go hand in hand to achieve our ultimate goal of the Golden Indonesia 2045. For Muhammadiyah, God willing, we are ready to support, we have discussed it with Mr. Haedar,” said Dody.

Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. revealed that the boarding system, either short-term or 3 months to a long year, can develop character education. “The problem of this nation is the problem of character, in addition to skills and so on. So Indonesia in the future is a problem of corruption, abuse of power, it is a problem of character,” he said.

Haedar hopes Muhammadiyah can help overcome these problems by strengthening character. “So the boarding system is part of Muhammadiyah’s policy in various and all Muhammadiyah universities,” said Haedar.

Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat said that the UNISA Yogyakarta Rusunawa will be built on six floors with a capacity of 300 students. The flat will complement the existing dormitory with a capacity of 200 students.

Warsiti said the Rusunawa will also serve as a training center for UNISA Yogyakarta students. Even so, this Rusunawa is not intended for students on a permanent basis. “We use it on a rolling basis for new students to participate in activities or character training as well as personality and leadership development,” said Warsiti.

Warsiti also mentioned that although it has only been a university for seven years, UNISA Yogyakarta has achieved excellent accreditation. Students continue to increase and number nearly 9,000 with 23 study programs. It is hoped that this facility can support the needs of students.
