Dunia Kerja

The Medical Laboratory Technology (TLM) Study Program of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta once again showed its commitment in producing quality graduates. This time, 170 TLM students from the class of 2021 participated in intensive training in preparation for Field Work Practices (PKL).

The activity that took place in the Baroroh Baried hall on Saturday (12/10) provided important briefings that are very relevant to the world of work.

The World of Work

The training included various crucial materials, such as Basic Life Support (BHD), Patient Safety, Infection Prevention and Control (PPI), and the use of Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR) guided by the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) team. These materials are very important to be mastered by prospective laboratory health workers, given the importance of patient and laboratory staff safety.

In addition to technical training, students also attended a studium general with the theme “Service of Excellent and Professional Ethics”. The speakers provided an in-depth understanding of professional ethics and excellent service that must be possessed by a medical laboratory worker.

“The main purpose of this briefing is to equip students with knowledge and skills needed in the world of work,” said Dhiah Novalina, S.Si., M.Si as the Head of TLM Study Program.

“With sufficient provision, we hope that students can make the best contribution to society,” she added.

This training activity received a positive response from students. They feel very helpful with the material presented and hope to apply the knowledge gained during the PKL.

Inovasi Ppko 1

The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta has once again shown its concern for the community. Through the Strengthening the Capacity of Student Organizations (PPKO) Program, BEM FIKes UNISA succeeded in empowering cadre mothers and toddlers in Sendangagung Village, Minggir, Sleman by forming a business team “CESTU DENAWA”.

PMT Innovation

Supplementary Food Processing (PMT) is one of the difficult programs, but the presence of PPKO students is very helpful in innovating PMT which will be distributed to posyandu.

For approximately 7 meetings, students have provided counseling, nutritious PMT training, and direct PMT distribution. This activity not only increases the knowledge of cadres, but also encourages the creation of PMT innovations that are more attractive and liked by children.

“We are very happy to be able to contribute to stunting prevention efforts in Sendangagung Village,” said Emilia Dani Safitri, team leader of PPK Ormawa BEM FIKes UNISA.

“Hopefully, the ‘CESTU DENAWA’ business team can run successfully and have a positive impact on the community,” she continued.

With the establishment of the “CESTU DENAWA” business, it is expected to increase the availability of quality PMT in the village, so as to significantly reduce the stunting rate. In addition, this business also opens up new economic opportunities for the local community.

“We want to ensure that the innovations we create have a sustainable impact. Therefore, we involve the village community in the management of this business,” said Wantonoro, PPKO lecturer.

Ajang Internasional

Three students of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, namely Lukmanul Hakim, Feerousah Muzakka Abdillah, and Bani Iksan, became delegates at the international Ahmad Dahlan International Youth Camp (ADIYC) 2024. The three students from the Physiotherapy and Midwifery study programs were selected as representatives of UNISA Yogyakarta in the prestigious event held at Dewi Tinala Camping Ground, Kulonprogo, on October 3-5.

International Event

For three full days, participants from various countries discussed and exchanged ideas on global issues facing the younger generation. The three UNISA students not only actively participated in the discussions, but also managed to establish relationships with participants from other countries.

“The experience of participating in ADIYC was very valuable,” said Bani Iksan. “I made many new friends and gained great insight into global issues. This will be very useful for me in developing myself,” he added.

Similar to Bani, Lukmanul Hakim also felt challenged by the discussions that took place.

“This event opened my eyes to the importance of intergenerational dialog to find solutions to complex problems,” she said.

Feerousah Muzakka Abdillah hopes that UNISA Yogyakarta can organize similar events more often.

“I hope UNISA can facilitate more activities that involve students in intergenerational discussions, both on a local and international scale,” she said.

Head of the Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni (BKA) of UNISA Yogyakarta, Yekti Satriyandari, expressed her pride for the achievements of the three students.

“Their success proves that UNISA students have extraordinary potential and are able to compete at the international level,” she said.

Pijat Bayi 1

The community service team from Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta is once again innovating to improve the quality of life of Indonesian children. This time, their focus is on stimulating the optimal growth and development of toddlers through baby massage education.

Baby Massage

More than just a tradition, infant massage is now backed by scientific evidence as an effective way to stimulate a baby’s physical, cognitive and emotional development. The gentle touch during infant massage not only provides comfort, but also triggers the production of the hormone oxytocin which plays an important role in the formation of the bond between mother and baby.

Benefits:

  • Physical growth: Increases weight and height, especially in infants with slow growth.
  • Cognitive development : Stimulates brain and nervous system development.
  • Emotional development : Increases sense of security, reduces stress, and improves sleep.
  • Physical health : Aids digestion, breathing, and blood circulation.

Comprehensive Education:

UNISA Yogyakarta’s community service team, led by Enny Fitriahadi, S.Si.T., M.Kes and Esitra Herfanda, SST., M.Keb, not only provided theoretical education, but also hands-on demonstrations of proper baby massage techniques. This activity is carried out intensively at posyandu and residents’ homes to ensure wide coverage.

Collaboration with Posyandu Cadres:

The involvement of posyandu cadres is key to the success of this program. They are not only participants, but also active partners in accompanying the mothers while doing it at home. This collaboration is expected to create a snowball effect, where knowledge about baby massage can continue to spread in the community.

The community’s enthusiasm for this program is very high. The mothers felt helped by the baby massage education. They feel the benefits directly, both for the baby and for themselves.

Universitas `Aisyiyah Yogyakarta gave full support to this community service activity. This shows UNISA’s commitment in making a real contribution to the community, especially in the field of maternal and child health.

It is not just a tradition, but a long-term investment for the child’s future. With support from various parties, including academics, health practitioners, and the community, it is hoped that the baby massage education program can continue to grow and provide wider benefits for the nation’s future generation.
