Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar conducted a research collaboration with the theme GEDSI (Gender Disability and Social Inclusion) Knowledge and Attitude Intervention Model in Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities. This research tries to support the fulfillment of disability and women’s rights, as well as intervene related to the problem of violence.

This research departs from the problem that there are still many cases of violence against women with disabilities that have not been revealed and advocated properly. There are also many child marriages, female circumcision, discrimination against vulnerable women, and many other cases that are examples of GEDSI-based cases.

One of the research members, Dr. Islamiyatur Rokhmah, S.Ag., M.S.I (Unisa Yogyakarta) said that Indonesia ratified the UN conference in achieving SDGs with an agreement that no one is left behind, so in all aspects of life women, disabilities, children and vulnerable groups can get all rights, both the rights to life, religion, economy, politics, health, education, social and culture.

“No one is left behind to get this access, this is the GEDSI concept that is carried out to alleviate the problems that exist in society. So Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities have a role here in helping the government program, by conducting education, research and community service,” said Islamiyatur, Thursday (5/12/2024).

This research was chaired by Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp, Sp.Mat (Unisa Yogyakarta) with member 1, Dr. Islamiyatur Rokhmah, S.Ag, M.S.I (Unisa Yogyakarta) and member 2, Dr. Dahniar, M.Kes. (UNISMUH Makassar). This follow-up research is considered very important, to be able to provide one solution to efforts to increase knowledge and attitudes towards the GEDSI issue, which in previous studies was known that knowledge and attitudes towards the GEDSI issue were still limited.

“This further research is expected to produce a module that can be applied by Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions to socialize the GEDSI issue, which can be the basis for policy makers/stakeholders in the campus environment in making preventive efforts against various GEDSI issues, such as cases of discrimination, marginalization, double burden and violence based on gender, disability and social exclusion,” said Islamiyatur.

PTMA has the virtue of practicing the chess darma of Higher Education, namely teaching, research, community service and being active in the association, should have insight into the GEDSI issue. It is not limited to insight, but it is hoped that the GEDSI issue can be contained in policies in higher education, namely in the Main Performance Index (IKU) and Additional Performance Index (IKT), because Higher Education is one of the stakeholder elements that helps alleviate various community problems related to the GEDSI issue.

Gus Miftah

News, News

In recent times, the statement of Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman or known to the public as Gus Miftah has been busy. Gus Miftah while filling the study seemed to make fun of traveling drink sellers. Dr. Iwan Setiawan, MSI, lecturer of Islamic Religion and Kemuhammadiyahan at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (Unisa) Yogyakarta, assessed that Gus Miftah’s swearing was very inappropriate.

Iwan said that Gus Miftah, as a cleric and special envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in matters of religious tolerance, is certainly a public figure. Of course, he will be ready for criticism and suggestions from the public.

“So that viral swearing from a public figure to an iced tea seller, a family fighter, is very inappropriate. Not setting an example for the community,” said Iwan, Wednesday (4/12/2024).

Iwan said that it is not easy for an ustadz to keep his tongue in a public forum such as recitation. Sometimes the wrong tongue occurs, even losdol which causes uncontrolled speech.

“So what is needed is wisdom in speech and keeping the tongue in speech,” said Iwan.

Iwan assessed that humor can still be done, provided that it does not cause other people to feel dehumanized. Not making statements that hurt other people.

“Continue to maintain humor and cuteness, but start leaving things that cause others to be dehumanized and words that cause others to be hurt,” Iwan said.

Iwan said going to the drink seller and apologizing should be done. “Going to the tea seller and apologizing is the best attitude,” Iwan said.

Lecturers of the Public Administration Study Program of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta showed their concern for the community by holding a community service program in Kapanewon Pajangan, Bantul Regency. The activity, which focused on family medicinal plant education, directly targeted members of the Pajangan Branch of `Aisyiyah, which took place at the Hall of LPMK Kamijoro, Sendangsari, Pajangan on Tuesday, (26/11).

“We want to empower the community, especially mothers, to be more familiar with and utilize the potential of medicinal plants around us,” said Erni Saharuddin, S.Sos, MPA, activity coordinator.

“That way, we can reduce dependence on chemical drugs and utilize natural resources to maintain family health,” she added.

The activity, which began with healthy gymnastics together, was lively. The participants seemed enthusiastic about listening to material about various types of medicinal plants and their properties. In addition, they also received 110 seeds of medicinal plants that can be directly planted in their yards.

Erni added that the land in Pajangan is very fertile and suitable for medicinal plant cultivation. The hope is that the community can have their own living pharmacy at home.

The Branch Manager of `Aisyiyah Pajangan, Mrs. Komariyah, gave high appreciation for the community service program implemented by UNISA Yogyakarta.

“This kind of education is very beneficial for the community. We realize that many plants around us have medicinal properties. With this knowledge, we can live healthier and more independently,” said Komariyah.

PCA Pajangan also hopes that similar activities can continue. The collaboration between UNISA Yogyakarta and PCA is considered very positive in raising public awareness of the importance of utilizing medicinal plants.

Chairperson of ‘Aisyiyah, Dr. Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, MM, M.Si, expressed her high hopes for this program. “We hope that this free nutritious food program can be the first step to improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources. Manajemen Produksi 1

Estu SAE, a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) in Sleman Regency known for its natural herbal drinks, has made a giant leap in production. By adopting cutting-edge technology and perfecting production management, the MSME has not only improved efficiency but also strengthened its position as a pioneer of healthy drinks in Indonesia.

“In the past, we did many processes manually. Now, with the help of technology, everything is faster and more accurate,” said Estu SAE Owner Nurrohmah Dwi Mahesti on Friday (29/11/2024).

She recounted how the company initially struggled to meet the increasing market demand. However, with the support of the University of `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta service team, Estu SAE managed to overcome these challenges.

One of the most prominent innovations is the use of a modified spinner machine. This machine is able to extract essential oil from bay leaves more quickly and efficiently than traditional methods.

In addition to the use of spinners, hygiene improvements in raw material preparation are also carried out with the presence of large and small washing facilities designed to meet the hygiene needs of production equipment. This tool is very important to ensure hygiene standards in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) can be achieved.

The hygiene of Estu SAE products is also continuously improved with the use of tools facilitated by the UNISA Yogyakarta community service team through production tables and closed storage shelves. The use of these facilities is important to improve hygiene in the process of weighing and packaging products as well as storing raw materials and products more hygienically to prevent the risk of cross-contamination.

“It’s like having a new assistant in our kitchen,” Mahesti added. Every stage of production, from raw material processing to packaging, is carried out with the utmost care. The effort is to ensure the products are safe and of high quality.
