Baritoadi Buldan R.R, IAI (Chairman of the DIY Indonesian Architect Association and President Director of PT Surya Global Prima) and Dyah Sunthy Satiti Wikan, ST (Creative Director and Curator – Designstories.id), Wednesday 29/05 at Siti Walidah Building, Baroroh Hall 4th Floor.

Ardiansyah Rahmat H, S.Ars., M.Arch as a lecturer of UNISA Architecture Yogyakarta revealed that UNISA Architecture ARCHIPRENEUR is an annual agenda and in order to welcome the anniversary which is expected to be a means of inspiration for students in preparing for careers after graduating.

“The first speaker is from the perspective of the professional architecture profession and the second speaker is an architecture graduate who works outside the architecture profession so that the students’ views are much broader in preparing themselves,” he said.

Baritoadi revealed by quoting the statement of Muncihy B Edress that the responsibility of architects is great. If a doctor fails to treat a patient, the patient dies. While architects, when they make mistakes and fail to handle architectural designs or collapse, many people die because there are many people who use the building.

He also recounted his work experience to date, delivering some of his architectural design products, managing architecture companies and sharing marketing strategies in front of Unisa Yogyakarta architecture students.

The chairman of the Yogyakarta Architecture Association emphasized administratively and regulatively how to work as an architect starting from undergraduate, internship, professional school, internship again until the competency test as an architect with the Ar. degree in front of him.

“Starting today, students must have friendships that support them to continue to improve their capacity and teamwork so that later after graduation they can be more mature in establishing cooperation,”

Meanwhile, Dyah Sunthy Satiti Wikan revealed that in college, the focus was on building the designer’s mind, the way we think to see the environment creatively. “This designer mind includes the structure of thinking, observing and retrieving data and information, point of view, reading situations and analyzing, visual and social sensitivity.”

Dyah also emphasized that the sensitivity of taste, depth of empathy and intuition that was built during the Bachelor of Architecture Education was useful in all lines of work “In addition to conceptualizing a building, architects also need to be able to narrate the concepts made so that it becomes a plus,” she said.

Student Executive Board (BEM) of Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes) and BEM of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held a beach cleanup activity at Baros Beach, Tirtohargo, Kretek, Bantul (26/5). The activity was in collaboration with several volunteers from the Bantul District Yogyakarta Search and Rescue Team which we then called Bersantai (Beach Cleanup) 2024.

Kurnia Regita, as the head of the committee revealed that this activity is a work program of the Asosma (Religion, Social, and Society) department of BEM FIKes UNISA Yogyakarta which then collaborates with BEM FST UNISA Yogyakarta by implementing social action.

“Thank God, this activity received support from several elements and was welcomed with enthusiasm from the manager regarding our action in the form of cleaning marine debris on the coast and planting several plant seeds,” said Regita.

Anindya Gita Fakhira as the Governor of BEM FST UNISA Yogyakarta revealed the role of organizations that have an impact on society, “With the collaboration of BEM FST and BEM FIKes, it is not only building friendship between organizations, but also producing work programs that have an impact on society, such as this BERSANTAI event, with a beach cleanup event which was then followed by planting mangrove trees,” said Anin.

In his speech, Ilham Ramadan as the Governor of BEM FIKes UNISA Yogyakarta said that this activity is a student action in the application of environmental care.

“We initiated this activity because of the waste problem that is still always an issue that has not found a concrete solution in Yogyakarta. It is hoped that our activity can motivate other students to always increase their concern for the environment, including the environment,” said Ilham.

This activity was also supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry who helped send some live plants such as Tabebuya and Red Pucuk. In the opening ceremony, the event was attended by Septianto Wikan, Ph.D as a representative of the academic community of UNISA Yogyakarta, as well as Suwanta, a representative of the Yogyakarta Naval Base (LANAL), and also the Head of Bantul Environmental Service Bambang Purwadi.

Dr. Wikan appreciated the students who care about the environment, “Indonesia has more oceans than land, so Indonesia has a very long coastline, if not us who will take care of it. Students from BEM FIKes and BEM FST are extraordinary, in between their busy schedules as students, they still care about environmental issues, especially coastal areas,” he said.

Suwanta said that the Bersantai 2024 activity certainly supports the task of the Navy which is to maintain the aquatic ecosystem and the preservation of marine biota.

“Activities like this must be emulated by fellow students and all elements of society in order to preserve the environment. We appreciate our fellow students from BEM FIKes and BEM FST UNISA for starting a movement in preserving the environment,” said Suwanta.

With the opening of the activity, the students and volunteers from the Bantul District DIY SAR team were divided into several teams to carry out beach cleaning and mangrove planting. As a result, some plastic waste on the shoreline will be collected which will then be managed by the authorities.

The planting of 50 mangrove seedlings is also expected to ward off incoming marine debris so that the beach will appear clean and beautiful. Of course this also helps preserve marine biota because the presence of mangrove trees will make brackish water fish habitat sustainable. Hopefully with the implementation of this activity, it can be a motivation for fellow students to always spread usefulness.
