In commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the residents of Dukuh Jagulan, Kalangan, Pedan, Klaten, organized various positive activities. One of them is a health program aimed at preventing hypertension, in collaboration with the Community Service Team of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta.
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a serious health problem that can affect anyone, regardless of age. Seeing the high number of hypertension cases in Dukuh Jagulan, the UNISA Community Service Team, led by Dwi Sri Handayani, M.Kep., and Deasti Nurmaguphita, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.J., initiated this program to increase community awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Walk and Health Screening
The highlight of the event was held on August 25, 2024, with a healthy walk that was attended by all residents. This event was not only festive, but also useful because it was accompanied by free health screening. The service team measured blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid in all participants.
Counseling and Training
In addition to screening, the service team also provided counseling on hypertension, risk factors, and how to prevent it. The information presented is very useful for the community, especially for those who have a family history of hypertension.
As an effort to empower the community, the service team also conducted health cadre training. The cadres were trained to take blood pressure measurements and provide simple education to the community. With the presence of health cadres, it is hoped that efforts to prevent hypertension in Dukuh Jagulan can run more effectively.
Solid Cooperation
Collaboration between the UNISA Yogyakarta Community Service Team, PKK Sidomakmur, and the youth organization “Bolodewe” is the key to the success of this program. The three parties work together solidly to realize a healthier Dukuh Jagulan community.
