Pengelolaan sampah organik

Bantul, 7 August 2024 – The community service program entitled “Healthy Elderly Families Physically-Mental and Empowered (Klasikal-ya)” was successfully held at Posyandu Lansia Aster, Bantul. The event, which aims to improve the physical and mental health and independence of the elderly, focused on household organic waste management.

The event began with a socialization and training session on making Losida (kitchen waste lodhong) guided by Mrs. Suprihatin. In this session, participants gained knowledge about the technique of making Losida, which is a practical and environmentally friendly solution for organic waste management at home. This training is expected to help the elderly utilize

organic waste into compost that is useful for plants around their homes.
After the training session, the event continued with a health screening. This activity aims to monitor the health condition of the elderly, including checking blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health parameters. This screening is important to ensure that the elderly remain in good health and receive appropriate care.

The event was closed by giving Losida tools to the participants. With this tool, it is hoped that the elderly can immediately practice the knowledge they have gained and start managing household organic waste better.

Wantonoro as the head of this community service, said that the purpose of this program is as a tangible form of campus contribution in helping to reduce the waste problem in Yogyakarta through empowering the elderly who are physically and mentally healthy. “We hope that with this program, the elderly are not only physically and mentally healthier, but also able to play an active role in protecting the environment,” said Dr. Wantonoro.
