Universitas Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held a professional oath ceremony for 122 alumni of the midwifery profession program at the Convention Hall of Walidah Dahlan Mosque, UNISA Yogyakarta. The solemn event was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Moh Ali Imron, M.Fis, Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat, and Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) DIY, Sutarti, S.SiT., Bdn., MPH.

In his speech, Moh Ali Imron expressed his pride for the alumni who have successfully completed their education and are ready to go to the community. “In front of us today, the alumni of the UNISA midwifery profession are 122 midwives. Since 2021, UNISA Midwifery Program has graduated a total of 362 professional midwives. Of these 122 midwives, the UKOMNAS pass rate reached 96.1%, with the highest graduate achieving a GPA of 4.0,” he said.

Moh Ali Imron also added that UNISA midwife alumni have spread and developed their careers in various health service facilities (fasyankes), independent practices, and other sectors. “With such a profile, UNISA midwife alumni will have a professional spirit and will be the right people to carry out the mandate as stated in verse 58 of Surah An-Nisa. From the knowledge and skills of these midwives, the improvement of maternal and child health in particular and public health will continue to increase,” she said.

Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat in her speech said that the future challenges of midwifery will be more complex. “The future challenges of midwifery include adaptation to technology, the complexity of health problems, and the need for qualified competence. Aisyiyah midwives must be able to become actors of change. Therefore, Aisyiyah midwives must have a character in line with the character of progressive women, namely women who have an advanced state of mind and living conditions in all aspects without experiencing obstacles and discrimination both structurally and culturally,” she explained.

Warsiti also emphasized that advanced women are women who are knowledgeable with the foundation of faith, as stated in the treatise of progressive women.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) DIY, Sutarti, S.SiT., Bdn., MPH also gave her speech. She emphasized that Aisyiyah midwives must be strong soldiers of God. “Aisyiyah midwives must be able to open independent practices, carry out quality services in accordance with predetermined standards and guidelines,” she said.

The professional oath ceremony ended with the reading of the oath by the inaugurated midwives, witnessed by UNISA officials, representatives of professional organizations, families, and other invited guests. The newly appointed midwives are expected to bring positive changes and contribute significantly to improving maternal and child health in Indonesia.

The sweet smiles of young people who have just celebrated their graduation from high school are greeted with an increase in the cost of admission to state universities (PTN). This has suddenly discouraged people from continuing their dreams to be able to sit in college. This condition is thought to be due to the regulation room of Permendikbud Number 2 of 2024 concerning Standard Unit of Higher Education Operational Costs (SSBPOT) which authorizes PTN to increase the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) and IPI (Institutional Development Fee). The community’s anxiety was further heated by the statement of the PLT Secretary General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture who said that “Higher education, including tertiary education, is not included in the compulsory education program”. This statement seems to confirm that higher education is a luxury opportunity that can only be accessed by certain circles. This is reminiscent of the colonial era that clustered educational designations for nobles and natives.

What’s the news about the golden Indonesia of 2045?

This condition contradicts the steps taken by Bappenas, which has prepared the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJNPN) 2025-2045 in support of the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045, realizing Indonesia as a “Sovereign, Advanced and Sustainable Archipelago. One of the vision’s targets is the increased competitiveness of human resources with one of the development directions being equitable quality education (IE2). Reflecting on the reality of the very high increase in education costs that cannot be afforded by most people, it seems pessimistic that the plan can be realized. As if to confirm the data from BPS in 2023 which shows that the Indonesian population with higher education is still low, at 10.15%; then the vision and mission of the Golden Indonesia in 2045 feels far from the fire. The policy makers should revisit the 4th paragraph of the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution that “the state has an obligation to educate the nation’s life”, so as to provide access to higher education that can be reached by the community fairly and equitably.

Gen Z Takes a Stand

Seeing the various dynamics of education issues that are spreading in society today, Gen Z should actively take a stand. Not just waiting for fyp from social media platforms and then becoming followers of existing trends; but must think seriously and make choices about the fate of their future careers. Whether they choose to work/entrepreneurship, go to college, or get married. These choices become alternatives that are commonly used as the direction of life goals after individuals graduate from high school and each has logical consequences.

Why go to college?

Indeed, going to college is not yet compulsory in Indonesia, but it is one of the avenues of choice for Gen Z who have begun to enter the early adult phase to develop their potential. One of the characteristics of someone entering the early adult phase based on William Perry’s theory is having epistemic cognition, namely

able to think at the level of facts, beliefs, and ideas. In this epistemic thinking stage, it is characterized by: (1) Gen Z thinks dualistically, which is able to divide information, values, and authority into right and wrong, good and bad; (2) Relativistic thinking, which views all knowledge as embedded in a framework of thought, thus realizing the diversity of opinions on many topics; (3) Commitment in relativistic thinking, which is trying to formulate a more satisfying perspective that synthesizes contradictions, so as to be able to look for different perspectives in their views. This stage of thinking will be highly honed when Gen Z sits in college because they will be brought together by various human characteristics from different cultural backgrounds, so they will be able to deal with culture shock in the academic community. In addition, epistemic thinking will help Gen Z to explore values, roles, and behaviors that can strengthen their worldview.

The Psychological Impact of College

In addition to offering a pathway to higher careers, increased skills, and financial security in the future; college has a changing impact on Gen Z in psychological aspects, such as: First, Gen Z becomes better at reasoning about problems that do not have obvious solutions, identifying strengths and weaknesses in different ideas about complex problems, and reflecting on the quality of their own thinking; Second, their attitudes and values become broader; Third, it affects moral reasoning by increasing concern for individual rights and human welfare; Finally, Gen Z will be able to develop better self-understanding, higher self-esteem, and a firmer sense of identity (Berk, 2013).

The Importance of Selecting a Major

The success of a person in obtaining a bachelor’s degree is certainly not just “going through it”, it needs to be carefully prepared so as not to drop out in the middle of the road or become an eternal student as a permanent campus donor because of late graduation. The results of research conducted by Putra et al (2022) and Tamimi et al (2023) show that Gen Z tends to choose universities based on several factors; the top one is campus reputation, one of the indicators is professional bodies that work with the campus which can be seen from campus rankings both internationally and nationally, as well as the role of the academic community and alumni. Second is infrastructure; the quality of buildings and buildings supported by complete learning infrastructure facilities is a consideration for choosing a safe and comfortable place to study. Third, the location that is easily accessible and close to public facilities, is a favorite place for Gen Z with a high level of mobility. The fourth is promotion, which is the impact of successful campus branding on prospective new students who have a positive impression of the intended university. The variable that is no less important is cost, parents and Gen Z need to carefully calculate the cost of entry to the estimated funds needed to complete the study. In addition, it is necessary to consider the ease of access to scholarships or dispensations offered to anticipate the increase in tuition fees that can occur at any time. On the other hand, a personal component that is no less important must be owned by Gen-Z before making a choice, namely recognizing their potential first, so that Gen-Z can understand which majors are suitable for them.

In addition, the government should be more committed to educating the nation’s life by creating inclusive and equitable education at all levels, both at primary education, secondary education, and tertiary education.

Sosialisasi stroke pada lansia 2

Yogyakarta, May 15, 2024 – Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta has conducted a community service activity with the theme “Socialization of Stroke in the Elderly” on May 15, 2024 at Yayasan Senior Madani Yogyakarta. The event aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of the elderly and their families about stroke, which is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia.

This activity presented Dr. Yanasta Yudo Pratama, M.M.M., M.Biomed as the main speaker who is a Doctor in the Promotive and Preventive Division of Non-Communicable Diseases, delivering material on the definition of stroke, types of stroke, risk factors, early symptoms, as well as prevention and early treatment measures.

“Stroke is a serious medical condition that requires quick treatment. By knowing the early signs and how to prevent it, we can save many lives and improve the quality of life of the elderly,” said Dr. Yudo in the session.

In addition to material delivery, this activity also involved first aid training for the elderly who show symptoms of stroke. Dr. Yudo demonstrated the FAST (Face, Arm, Speech, Time) technique and taught participants how to respond quickly if they find signs of stroke in the elderly.

The stroke socialization participants, consisting of residents of Yayasan Senior Madani, their families, as well as caregiving staff, seemed enthusiastic about each session. They actively participated in the discussions and practices.

One of the participants, Mrs. Indarti, expressed her gratitude. “We are very grateful to ‘Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta and Dr. Yanasta for providing this valuable knowledge. We know more about how to prevent and manage stroke,” she said.

Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta witnessed the signing of a cooperation between the Higher Education Research and Development Council (Dikti Litbang) of Muhammadiyah Central Leadership and Telkom Satellite Indonesia. The event took place in the courtroom of Siti Moendjijah building and was attended by various important figures from both parties on Monday (20/05).

Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si, expressed his deep appreciation to Telkom Satellite Indonesia for its willingness to collaborate with Muhammadiyah, especially with the Research and Development Council of PP Muhammadiyah.

“I believe this program is very compatible with Muhammadiyah which is also continuing to build its institutions, including in the field of higher education, so that we are more adaptive and master information technology,” he said.

The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat, also emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advances in the world of higher education.

“Technological advancement is now a basic need, and at UNISA, everything is already digital-based. All of us as universities must be able to adapt quickly through existing technology. Hopefully this collaboration can improve the quality of higher education in carrying out the chess dharma of education,” said Warsiti.

Student Executive Board of Student Family (BEM KM) Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held an Expression Stage and Putri Kartini Unisa Yogyakarta 2024, Sunday (19/05/2024).

Syafauzi Suryanto as the Chairperson of the Unisa Yogyakarta 2024 Expression Stage and Putri Kartini Committee revealed that around 250 attendees consisting of 79 individual and group participants of expression stage performers and 11 finalists of Putri Kartini Unisa Yogyakarta and Unisa Yogyakarta students were very enthusiastic about the event.

“This activity aims to accommodate the creations and forms of freedom of expression of Unisa students, as well as a reflection of the figure of R.A Kartini with all the struggles for women,” said Syafa.

She also said that the finalists of Putri Kartini Unisa 2024 consisted of selected students representing all study programs who had gone through a series of selections on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Esa Jongko Budi Angkoso as UNISA Student President (Presma) for the 2023/2024 period revealed that this activity was a momentum to demonstrate the competence of Ormawa and UKM UNISA Yogyakarta 2023/2024 with a show on stage performance from each Ormawa and a moment to pioneer the figure of Kartini and other women’s movement figures at UNISA Yogyakarta “On this occasion BEM KM Unisa Yogyakarta facilitated the integration efforts of Ormawa Unisa to continue the struggle of the women’s movement,” said Esa.

Esa hopes that on this occasion, which coincides with the 107th Milad ‘Aisyiyah, that Unisa Yogyakarta must become an incubator for students who are able to foster the birth of new ideas and breakthroughs in the women’s movement and the implementation of the minutes of the progressive women’s movement.
