A total of 45 participants enthusiastically participated in the Basic Training for Qurban Slaughterers organized by the Halal Institute of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Halal Slaughterer (JULEHA). Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the courtyard of the integrated campus and Walidah Dahlan Mosque, UNISA Yogyakarta.
Hendrato Setiabudi Nugroho, S.E., M.Si. as the person in charge of the UNISA Yogyakarta Halal Institute, said that based on Law Number 18 of 2009 concerning Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, halal slaughter must meet the requirements of veterinary public health, animal welfare, and Islamic law. The critical point that can cause ruminant and poultry meat to become non-halal is the slaughter process that is not in accordance with Islamic law.
“The role of Halal Butchers is very important in determining the fulfillment of the ASUH (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal) requirements of the meat produced, so that they can have competence as Halal Butchers based on applicable laws and regulations,” he said.
Hendrato also revealed that the expected output of participants after attending the Basic Training for Halal Butchers is that participants are able to understand the 10 Units of Competence for Halal Butchers as a standard of basic knowledge, skills, and work attitudes as a Qurban Butcher.
“Participants are expected to be able to apply halal slaughter procedures at RPH-U / RPA to be able to guarantee the halalness of chicken meat products and fulfill the requirements of ASUH (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal) meat,” he concluded.
In addition, he also said that this activity was attended by members of the Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership (PRM) assisted by UNISA Yogyakarta and the academic community in UNISA Yogyakarta.
