Unisa Yogyakarta is the first campus or university founded by a Muslim women’s organization in Indonesia, namely `Aisyiyah, which is an autonomous organization of Muhammadiyah.

UNISA Yogyakarta

The birth of UNISA went through a long process since 1963 as a Midwife School, as a nursing academy (AKPER) in 1991, as a College of Health in 2023 and since March 10, 2016 transformed into a university. We have achieved the goal of becoming a university accredited as superior by BANPT (7 superior universities in Yogyakarta) in January 2024 and received the SK of the Faculty of Medicine Operational License in July 2024, of course this is a trust from the government through the Ministry of Education Culture Research and Higher Education that not all universities can get this mandate. We hope this achievement can make new students proud as young unisa 2024.

Gratitude and pride as a young unisa, of course, must be realized with seriousness in learning, the spirit of achieving hope, becoming a smart, intelligent, creative and innovative student, achieving and having character and independent thinking.

As a student of Unisa Yogyakarta (as part of the Muhammadiyah `Aisyiyah College), it is demanded not only to have academic intellectual competence, but also to have spiritual moral excellence and excellence in the role of social and leadership roles that characterize the cadres of the association. Therefore, students must prepare themselves as well as possible, straighten their intentions for an enlightening future to fill golden Indonesia.

Some characters must be possessed by Unisa students who will be ready to compete at the national and global levels, including strong religious provisions, proficient technology and broad knowledge, leadership competencies and have social care (altruism). Strong religious provision. Students of Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah College (PTMA), act as cadres involved in the Islamic movement and da’wah, so religious aspects (akidah, akhlaq, worship, muamalah) should be understood and implemented in everyday life.

Understanding and practicing Islamic teachings in accordance with Muhammadiyah’s religious perspective is not only centered on changing individual identity (personal piety), but also prioritizes the substance of the movement through good deeds (social piety). In daily life, unisa students must be orderly in worship, respect time / discipline, respect others and like to do charity, be tolerant, and be open (inclusive) as a form of devotion. Devotion will produce the fruit of goodness, mental attitude, good behavior /akhlaq karimah is expected to be embedded in the personalities of UNISA Yogyakarta students.

Muhammadiyah is a movement of Tajdid, a movement of reformers, therefore unisa yogya students must be proficient in knowledge and technology. Our lives today cannot be separated from the increasingly rapid technology.

Changes will occur quickly and cannot be predicted, so students should not be trapped in a comfort zone, but students must move quickly, adapt to the changes that occur.

Students must increase literacy, read a lot to be able to survive and compete in this transformation era. Technological advances must be utilized very wisely, for the benefit of learning / sources of information, building extensive networks, fostering and developing ideas of creativity and innovation and to develop a better interpreneurship spirit.

UNISA Yogyakarta students must be visionary / optimistic about the future, have big dreams and plan very well by sticking to moral ethics based on progressive Islamic values. Leadership and organizational competencies. UNISA Yogyakarta students are expected to become role models for their community after graduation, to be the driving force of the community, and to drive change. Therefore, UNISA students must have leadership, organizational and communication skills. Being a bookworm is good, academic success must be, but also involve yourself, forge yourself and your potential by being actively involved in student organizations. That’s where you will learn a lot about leadership, leadership and organization.

UNISA provides the widest possible opportunity for students to develop their interests, talents and potential through various student organizations and student activity units. A high spirit of altruism as an expression of devotion has been the spirit of the Muhammadiyah movement since the organization was founded, so this spirit must also be possessed by UNISA students. Altruism is an attitude of empathy, the desire to be able to help and help people in need and feel satisfied / happy when they can help others. This attitude arises without coercion, willing to put the interests of others above their own interests.

So this student title requires you to be more independent, no longer able to depend on parents for many things. Independence in various aspects of life. Then you can adapt yourself immediately (values, culture, habits, learning methods, time management).

Sehat Jiwa

Mental health is becoming an increasingly important issue in modern society. Recognizing this, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta in collaboration with Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University and the Health Assembly of the Regional Leadership of `Aisyiyah (PWA) DIY through its community service (Pengabmas) launched an innovative program: the establishment of a Mental Health Alert Branch.

This program was implemented through community service at the Tamantirto Tengah `Aisyiyah Branch (PRA), Kasihan, Bantul. The activity, which was held on Sunday (8/9), aims to equip mental health cadres with knowledge and skills in early detection of mental health problems in the community.

“Our main goal is to create a society that cares about mental health,” said Dr. dr. Siti Istianah, M.Sc., chairperson of Makes PWA Yogyakarta.

Istianah also added, “With trained cadres, it is hoped that we can prevent and overcome mental health problems early on.”

Why Tamantirto Tengah PRA?

The choice of PRA Tamantirto Tengah as the location for this program was based on several factors. First, this location is around the campus so the community is heterogeneous and has various backgrounds. Second, the high mobility of the population in this area can be a source of stress and trigger mental health problems.

Healthy Soul

In this training, the cadres were given material on various types of mental disorders, how to detect them early, and early treatment. In addition, they were also trained to provide psychological support to individuals experiencing mental health problems.

“This training is very useful for us,” said one of the participants. “We now understand more about the importance of mental health and how to help people who are struggling with this issue.”

Dr. Ns. Mamnuah, M. Kep. Sp. Kep. J. Lecturer at UNISA Yogyakarta said that with the successful implementation of this program, it is expected to become a model for other ‘Aisyiyah branches in Yogyakarta. In the future, the cadres who have been trained will play an active role in providing mental health education to the community, as well as referring cases that require further treatment to professionals.

Kolaborasi

In an effort to improve the quality of early childhood health, the collaboration of the Midwifery Student Association (HIMABIDA) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta with the Health Assembly of the ‘Aisyiyah Branch Leadership (PCA) Kasihan and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FKIK) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held an Early Detection of Growth and Development (DDTK) program. This activity is carried out regularly every three months at KB Aisyiyah Surya Melati Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta.

Collaboration

Sulis, the administrator of PCA Kasihan’s Health Assembly, revealed that the DDTK program is a tangible manifestation of PCA Kasihan’s concern for children’s health.

“We want to ensure that all children in the Kasihan area grow optimally. Through early detection, we can prevent stunting and provide appropriate interventions if problems are found,” said Sulis.

In this DDTK program collaboration, 36 Playgroup (KB) students aged 2-5 years participated in a health check which included measurements of height, weight, head circumference, and arm circumference. The examination was conducted by members of HIMABIDA UNISA Yogyakarta and the ‘Aisyiyah Kasihan Branch Leadership Council.

In addition to the physical examination, parents also received education on the importance of healthy child development. This education was delivered by a team of experts from the Health Assembly of ‘Aisyiyah Kasihan Branch Leadership and FKIK UMY.

Feerousah, Head of HIMABIDA UNISA Yogyakarta, expressed her gratitude for the collaboration in this program. “We are very enthusiastic about being involved in the DDTK program. This activity is not only beneficial for children, but also a place for students to implement the knowledge they have gained,” she said.
