Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta held an event to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of UNISA Yogyakarta. The event entitled “Jejak Langkah Sejarah Muhammadiyah – UNISA Yogyakarta” was held at UNISA campus 1 on Saturday (08/06), inviting all employees to explore the historical places in Kauman, where Muhammadiyah and `Aisyiyah were founded.

The Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta, Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., in her speech expressed the importance of this event as a reflection of UNISA Yogyakarta’s journey.

“Campus 1, which still stands strong today, is a monumental and historical place in the journey of UNISA Yogyakarta,” said Warsiti.

Warsiti emphasized that this event was not just a morning walk around the campus, but also a reflection on the struggle of the founders of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah who had an extraordinary vision.

“The meaning of this morning’s activity is not just a walk around Kauman, but our journey is part of the reflection of the journey of UNISA Yogyakarta, and we can see the struggle of the founding figures of Muhammadiyah and `Aisyiyah who have very extraordinary and very advanced thoughts,” said Warsiti.

Warsiti also added that the existence of UNISA Yogyakarta today is clear evidence of the brilliant thinking of the founders. “We should be grateful for our existence today by filling our activities at UNISA Yogyakarta to strengthen and advance our UNGGUL status, as envisioned by the founders,” she added.

The Board of Trustees (BPH) of UNISA Yogyakarta, Mohammad Adam Jerusalem, S.T., S.H., M.T., Ph.D, also gave his views on K.H Ahmad Dahlan’s struggle to enlighten the nation’s challenging life.

“There are three components of Muhammadiyah’s struggle, namely Education, Health, and Community Empowerment, the extraordinary journey of UNISA Yogyakarta with the reflection of its 33rd anniversary is interpreted by reflecting on historical places,” said Adam.

Adam emphasized that UNISA Yogyakarta is now big and growing, and can be a barometer for other `Aisyiyah universities. A total of 220 employees participated in this activity, which not only provided insight into the history of Muhammadiyah but also strengthened togetherness among all UNISA Yogyakarta academicians.
