UNISA Internationalization: UTM Collaboration, Joint Research, Global Scientific Development

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta continues to show its commitment in developing international standard education and research. The real step this time was realized through an academic visit to the Faculty of Computing Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This visit is a follow-up to the Letter of Collaboration that has been agreed upon previously, marking a new chapter in strategic cooperation between the two institutions.
The main agenda of this visit was an in-depth discussion of future collaboration program plans. Some of the initiatives initiated include guest lecture programs, visiting professors, joint research, student mobility, joint workshops, and doctoral study opportunities for UNISA lecturers. This step is expected to enrich academic insights and experiences for both parties, as well as strengthen the global research network.
Previously, on January 25, 2025, this collaboration has produced tangible results through a guest lecture on the topic “Machine Learning in Cyber Security Application”, this topic is very relevant to current technological developments, in line with the excellence of the Digital Forensics research laboratory owned by the UNISA Yogyakarta Information Technology (IT) Study Program. In the future, UNISA IT lecturers will continue to be active as resource persons in various similar activities, strengthening UNISA Yogyakarta’s role as a center for scientific development in the field of cyber security.
Dean of FST UNISA, Tika Ainnunisa Fitria, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., expressed high optimism for the continuation of this collaboration. “We are confident that collaboration with UTM will result in many mutually beneficial innovations and developments. Together, we will develop knowledge, especially in the field of Science and Technology, to answer global challenges,” Tika said in a written statement, Thursday (6/3/2025).
UTM, as a strategic partner of UNISA Yogyakarta, is one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia. Based on QS World Rankings 2025, UTM is ranked 6th in Southeast Asia and 181st in the world, this achievement shows the quality and reputation of UTM as a globally recognized higher education institution. For UNISA Yogyakarta, which has achieved Excellent accreditation, and the IT Study Program which has achieved Excellent accreditation, this cooperation is proof of public trust in the quality of education provided.
This visit is part of UNISA’s internationalization efforts. By strengthening the global network, UNISA Yogyakarta hopes to provide a wider learning experience for students and lecturers, as well as improve the quality of research and community service. This continuous collaboration is expected to motivate the entire academic community of FST UNISA Yogyakarta to continue to excel and contribute to the development of science and technology.
