The Community Service Team from Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta successfully held an activity themed Establishment of Adolescent Reproductive Health Consultation Information Center (PIK-KRR) by Strengthening Peer Educators at SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Yogyakarta. The program team consisted of Dhesi Ari Astuti, Nurul Kurniati, and Erwin Rasyid.

The activity which was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 was attended by 20 students and teacher representatives from SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Yogyakarta. The main purpose of this activity is to provide education on adolescent reproductive health and establish an information center that can be accessed by students. This is expected to provide a better understanding of the importance of reproductive health and how to protect it among adolescents.

Dhesi Ari Astuti said that the establishment of PIK-KRR is an important first step in an effort to provide correct and useful information about reproductive health to adolescents. “With PIK-KRR, students can have easy access to accurate information and can consult with peer educators that we have trained,” said Dhesi.

Nurul Kurniati added that the role of peer educators in delivering reproductive health information is important. “Peer educators have a strategic role because they can convey information in a way that is more easily accepted by their peers,” Nurul explained.

In this activity, the use of information technology will also be integrated in this PIK-KRR. “We will utilize technology to support information dissemination and consultation, so that access to information becomes wider and more efficient,” said Erwin.

This activity was made possible through the support of the Higher Education Council of Aisyiyah Central Leadership and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta. This support is clear evidence of the commitment of both institutions in improving the quality of education and health among adolescents.

With the establishment of PIK-KRR at SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Yogyakarta, it is expected that students can better understand the importance of reproductive health and have a reliable source of information. This activity is expected to be a model that can be applied in other schools to increase adolescents’ awareness and knowledge about reproductive health.
