The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta along with the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau represented UNISA in attending the Safari Syawalan 1445 H event organized by the Sleman Regency Government. The event took place on Tuesday (30/4) at the Sleman Regency Parasamya Hall.

The Regent of Sleman, Sri Kustini, in her speech conveyed the good news about the surge in the number of tourists who reached 330 thousand during Lebaran this year in Sleman. The surge has had a significant positive impact on the regional economy, with the poverty rate dropping by 0.22 percent.

To reduce poverty, the Sleman Regency Government has taken several steps, including through the Sleman Pintar scholarship program in which UNISA Yogyakarta is one of the partners, as well as providing assistance to small industries and direct cash assistance to the community.

In addition, the stunting rate has also decreased by 2.7 percent in Sleman.

Facing the increasingly urgent waste problem, the Sleman Regency Government has taken strategic steps by starting independent and sustainable waste management. One of them is by operating the Tamanmartani Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST), where waste is processed into industrial fuel. Cooperation with Semen Indonesia was also carried out to convert waste into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), which is a temporary fuel.

Education to the community about household waste management and waste management at the urban village level is also carried out as a further prevention effort.

In his speech, the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono, reminded that Syawalan is the right time to strengthen national unity. This tradition plays an important role in fostering human values, nationality, and mutual benefit. The governor also invited to celebrate Syawalan as a valuable moment between regional leaders and the community, which allows to understand aspirations and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that have been established. The moment of Syawalan is expected to be the right time to reflect and work together towards noble goals.
