The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta demonstrated its commitment to empowering the community through a community service program in collaboration with SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping on Saturday (9/11/2024). LPPM UNISA Yogyakarta provided special fashion design training for people with disabilities as part of the Partnership-Based Micro Business Household Industry (IRT-UM) Development Program for Fiscal Year 2024 organized by Kemdikbudristek.

As a presenter from SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping, Lisa Sari Dewi, S.Pd.T who is a fashion design and production teacher. Lisa shared her knowledge and experience with the six trainees. In addition to Lisa, this activity was also accompanied by a team from UNISA Yogyakarta, namely Dr. Islamiyatur Rokhmah, S.Ag., MSI and Siti Nadhir Ollin Norlinta, S.ST.Ft., M.Fis.

The training focused on the preparation needed to maximize the sewing business that the participants had started. The material presented included effective tips and tricks for promoting sewing services through various social media platforms, the use of banners, and other media. In addition, the participants were also given an understanding of the important aspects of starting and running a business, beyond sewing techniques alone.

“We hope that through this training, the participants can develop their potential and improve their product quality and production capacity. Thus, they can be more independent and contribute to the community’s economy,” said Islamiyatur.
This community service program not only aims to improve the technical skills of the participants, but also to improve aspects of quality and production capacity. In addition, governance and institutionalization, as well as business development and marketing of their businesses.

Ollin said he hopes that through this training, people with disabilities can be more confident in developing their businesses and achieving financial independence. The collaboration between LPPM UNISA Yogyakarta and SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping in this program shows the importance of synergy between universities and other educational institutions in empowering the community.

“This partnership is expected to be an example for other institutions to contribute in improving welfare. Especially for vulnerable groups of society,” said Ollin.

Psychology students of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta once again showed their concern for the community, especially the welfare of the disabled. In the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, two students of UNISA Yogyakarta’s Psychology Study Program, Aulia Maharani Elsafir and Sartika Masrudin, collaborated with Puskesmas Mlati II to organize the activity “Together with Teman Difabel Tlogoadi: Mental Health and Health Screening and Socialization of Dental Health” (20/06).

The activity, which took place at the Gor Kelurahan Tlogoadi, Sleman, was attended by 32 friends with disabilities and their companions. The main purpose of this activity was to detect early mental and physical health disorders in disabled friends, as well as provide education about the importance of maintaining health.

Collaboration that Brings Positive Impact

The collaboration between UNISA Yogyakarta and Puskesmas Mlati II in this activity shows the commitment of both institutions in providing optimal health services for the community. UNISA Yogyakarta Psychology students played an active role in the implementation of mental health screening using the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ). Meanwhile, health workers from Puskesmas Mlati II conducted physical health checks and provided education on dental health.

Agus Salim, S.Psi, M.Psi, Psychologist, as the field supervisor, revealed that this activity was very beneficial for students. “Through the MBKM program, students not only sharpen the knowledge they have learned, but also gain direct experience in applying psychology to help the community, especially the welfare of the disabled,” he said.

The mental health screening carried out in this activity is very important to detect early the presence of mental disorders in disabled friends. With early detection, the right treatment can be given immediately so that the quality of life of disabled friends can improve.

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Menjalin Sinergi Dengan Majelis Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah

Majelis Pemberdayaan Masyarajat (MPM) PP Muhammadiyah bersilaturahim ke Univeritas ‘Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, Selasa (31/1/2017). Kunjungan ini diharapkan akan ada kerjasama antara MPM PP Muhammadiyah dan UNISA.

Rombongan MPM PP Muhammadiyah yang dipimpin Dr M Nurul Yamin diterima Ummu Hani, Wakil Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan (FIKes) dan Sarwinanti Kepala Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM). Audiensi ini membahas beberapa program yang bisa dikerjasamakan di antara kedua lembaga ini.

Ummu Hani yang juga mewakili Rektor UNISA menyambut baik silaturahim pengurus MPM PP Muhammadiyah ke kampus UNISA. “ Di UNISA, kami juga memiliki program pembinaan kepada masyarakat, harapannya kerja sama nanti dapat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat” kata Ummu Hani.

Unisa akan melakukan tindak lanjut pertemuan hari ini termasuk mapping program. “Sebagai wujud kepedulian terhadap masyarakat yang terpinggirkan, InsyaAllah kami akan membantu dalam tindak lanjut berikutnya,” kata Ummu.

M Nurul Yamin, Ketua MPM PP Muhammadiyah mengatakan, dalam beberapa program yang terkait pemberdayaan masyarakat, MPM senantiasa menggandeng Ortom dan amal usaha Muhammadiyah untuk bersinergi bersama-sama. “Kami bersilaturrahim dengan pimpinan Univesitas ‘Aisyiyah, dalam rangka membangun sinergi amal usaha pendidikan khususnya perguruan tinggi dengan program-program pemberdayaan masyarakat,” kata Yamin.

MPM, kata Yamin, selain melakukakan aktivitas pemberdayaan yang sifatnya peningkatan pendapatan atau kapasitas kelompok, juga melakukan advokasi pada kepentingan-kepentingan kelompok. “Salah satu yang ingin kami diskusikan hari ini adalah advokasi bidang kesehatan, karena salah satu problem yang ada di kelompok adalah kesehatan” tandas Yamin.

Yamin memandang UNISA banyak menangani perempuan dan anak-anak sehingga bisa diajak untuk berkolabroasi. “Kami memandang ‘Aisyiyah konsen terhadap perempuan dan anak-anak, karena isu-isu kesehatan pada kelompok dampingan kebanyakan adalah perempuan dan anak-anak” katanya.
