Universitas `Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) once again showed their collaboration in their commitment to improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia. This time, the two universities, which are still under the auspices of the Muhammadiyah association, worked together to organize the Instructional Techniques Skills Improvement Training (Pekerti) for lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine and Islamic Religion at UNISA, Monday (23/09).

The one-week training aims to equip lecturers with the necessary skills in designing effective learning, conducting learning evaluations, and implementing astudent-centered learning approach.
UAD Rector Prof. Dr. Muchlas, M.T. said in various pressures the importance of developing pedagogical competence in the midst of rapid changes in the curriculum paradigm.
“Lecturers are not only required to master academic material, but also to be able to deliver the material interestingly and effectively so that it can be understood by students,” he said.
Vice Rector II of UAD Dr. Norma Sari, M.Hum added that Pekerti training is a form of implementation of the permit that UAD has obtained from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) as the organizer of Pekerti training.
“We hope that this training can provide great benefits for lecturers, especially in facing the challenges of learning in the digital era,” she added.
Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta Dr. Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat welcomed the collaboration with UAD in organizing this training.
“Pekerti training is a good first step for our lecturers to improve their competence. With the provision of new skills, we are optimistic that we can produce qualified graduates who are ready to face the challenges of the world of work,” he said.
The Pekerti training, which was attended by 30 participants, consisting of 22 lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine and 8 lecturers from Islamic Religion and Muhammadiyah, highlighted the four main tasks of lecturers, namely personal, social, professional, and pedagogical domains. In particular, the training paid great attention to the development of pedagogical competence, given the importance of lecturers’ ability to deliver complex learning materials in a way that is easily understood by students.
